Bass Chorus trek...

I love the CE2. I have no idea if it cuts low end (it very well could) but I don't care. I think it has the tone as long as you're not looking for deep and swooshy.

My other go to for many years was the Fulltone Choralflange. Either modulation sounded great with bass and has stereo outs if you need it.

Another one for the list, that was released last night. I'd want to try one out in person, but seems to be a cool chorus/experimental sounds pedal. The demo thankfully has a Fender VI, so there's feeling for how it would sound on bass.

After much trial and error over many years, I came to the conclusion that the CE-2 circuit is the best fit for my needs. I usually keep the depth cranked up and the rate way down for a deep and wide doubling effect without much movement or warble.

ChoralFlange demo 4-6-23

Here is a collection of clips I recorded this evening.
All were recorded in Reaper with an NG3 5 string (preamp turned off) using a PSA 2 set fairly clean into a B7K Ultra V2 with the distortion section turned off.

I believe the distortion on some of the clips was due to the bass overloading the Choralflange. I also discovered some of the pots were scratchy, so that will be needing some Deoxit soon.

I don't own a CE-2W but I borrowed one from a friend for about a month. It is excellent!

In fact, that pedal is what cemented my opinion that the CE-2 is just right for bass. I reluctantly returned that one to him and built a couple CE-2 clones and a separate CE-2B clone.

Definitely can't go wrong with the Waza CE-2.

I'm more of a flanger guy than a chorus guy, but for me the MXR BCD suits my chorusy needs since the flanger is relatively tame compared to the super swooshy BF-2 sound. The new EQD aurelius has my gears turning though. Blend control and presets sound like really nice features.

I remember getting good chorus tones out of a BF-3, which was my 1st real effect pedal. As for the Aurelius, it sounds promising indeed and hopefully we'll get a bass clip done by someone, to give us an idea.

I had one for a while. You're limited to the CE-1 mode for the most part since the CE-2 mode cuts a good deal of low end. I moved on from it because 1. it has no crossover and even in CE-1 mode it still registers as a loss or destabilization of the low end when engaged in the middle of a song; and 2. the CE-1 mode has a volume boost to it that I found annoying.

I rarely use chorus/detune as an effect that I turn on/off in the middle of a song (if I bought one it'd probably stay on for entire songs/sets) and tend to EQ my bass pretty tightly down low anyway, so neither of those is necessarily a deal-killer for me. I'd have to try it to be sure of course!

I just bought another chorus off the local used market, so now I'm up to 4 chorus pedals that I'm rotating:

EHX Bass Clone
Demon FX Mini Chorus
Digitech Bass MultiChorus
Tech21 Bass Boost Chorus (today's purchase)

I might also get an Ampeg Liquifier and mod it to get rid of that awful "pop" sound that some of those pedals are afflicted with.
