Bass designers are trying to hard ...?

I've played Mustang Sally countless times and instead of approaching it as a chore that sucks I choose to do my best to make it groove. So for you bassists who think a particular song sucks, maybe it's just your rendition of it. No offense. Use your imagination and maybe, if you're capable of not sucking, the performance won't either. Just a tip. IME I can have fun playing pretty much anything I'm asked to. And the audience usually does too. Fun can be infectious. so can sucking.

At any time did your choice of bass make you shred and play a 2 handed tapping solo?

If anything I'm more prone to wank on an old four string. Seriously.

I played My Girl on the nine string to illustrate a simple point. My friend owns a nine string bass, period. It didn't make or compel me to play an arpeggiated two handed version of My Girl. And some of the people at that store simply had baggage.
