bass for garage

Hi, I'm planing to play garage but I can't find the perfect one yet my thoughts are on a squier mustang bass and on a squier vintage modified pbass(pj pickups)
Heck yeah. Both of those would be great for garage rock. The p bass pup can give some serious punch. Thats fun music to play ! I've been playing with a 60s garage rock/punk thing lately. keyboardists has a real Farfisa organ too. so yeah. both of those are great for what yer thinking of. Have a blast Man !

I always thought a Garage band was a bunch of teens starting their first band, usually forced into the garage for practice. Is it a Genre of music now?
This compilation released in 1972 (co-assembled with liner notes by Lenny Kaye) and similar comps to follow were influential in defining the genre which brought such bands under the broad umbrella known as "garage" today.

For a bass, some sort of hollow body or Vox would really capture the trad look and sound. I think an Epi Jack Casady would work well.

My 1st band, in my early teens, well--we called our style "garage rock." Other people agreed. Among other acts, Blue Cheer inspired us kids. Folks like to call that act "proto-metal" but we knew better! This here is pure garage. Fender Jazz worked real well for them. I bought a P-Bass. Bliss! :
