Yeah you would think that sorta thing is funny, except that bass player has probably smartened up and put straplocks on his bass so that it won't fly off next time. Now he is probably swinging his damn bass around causing the same sort of damage that a guitarist inflicted upon my bass.

While playing for a week at a large Church youth conference on an Island off the coast of Queensland AUS, I was moving across the stage towards the lead guitarist. He was completely unaware the somebody was near him (because he didn't look) and threw his PRS around his shoulder. My reflexes were fortunately pretty quick and I managed to lean back just in time to avoid a PRS headstock in the face, but my chest, and my 4 week old Stingray 4 string in very rare Dark Cherry burst weren't so lucky. The 'Ray copped 3 dings, each going through the finish and slightly into the wood, between 3 and 6mm wide each. My chest got bruised. His guitar got tangled up in his strap, and he played the most of the rest of the song with it sitting nearly on his shoulder till he could straighten the strap out! I however, didn't drop a note :D

I don't think anyone in the congregation actually noticed what happend. The good news is that we finished the gig, I forgave the guitarist, and he will be a whole lot more carfeul next time!

Well all the basses I've ever owned have belt-buckle scratches and headstock dings from belts and walls... but one time in a hurry (only bass at the time) I tossed my silver Soundgear fiver onto my desk chair, and restrung the G string, winding quickly and picked it up, and it smacked the corner of the desk on the way up. Took a chunk out of the desk and the finish, but the wood was untouched :p, then there was the time I "borrowed" my brother's American Standard Strat and he's flipping out that he couldn't find it (guess he missed the note on his amp lol) and when he found me in the basement with it, he threw my Bassballs at me and he hit his own $800 guitar. Dumbass.

Anyway, my Stingray's G string tuner is scratched and slightly bent from using it as a big, $1000 drumstick. And a few dings to the wood, but other than that, all the dings came with it.

And that's why I'm glad my headstocks look like this...

i've got the prerequiste headstock dings from cymbal crashes.

i bent the G string tuner on my jazz bass somehow, so now it's stiff when it turns.

i cracked the neck on my p-bass in a fit of rage one day. it also has scratches from my using brass guitar picks while playing drunk.

um...both basses have some dents through the finish into the wood and a few dings up and down the neck from god knows what. i'm not really concerned about all the damage they've gotten as i plan to keep both of them forever.

i was playin and i put my bass (cheap carlo robelli but all i got till i get a job ) up un the stand but not clipped in and well i go to the bathroom when i hear a thud the some other sounds i come out and see the stand and bass on the ground and look it had a chip in the black finish very noticable luckily black nail posish fixed that

oh *** damn that is so funny, sorry dude, but it is....ill be keeping the kubicki under lock n key if i ever get a gf like that...wont worry me if she steals my stingray, if i have one by then..but touching the kubicki is a bigggggg no no

Ha! That's awesome.

I have a whole bunch of dings and scratches on my fretted. There's a bunch of slight dings on my fretless -- mostly from me twirlin' and flippin', and, inevitbably DROPPIN' drum sticks in my room. Luckily, nothing's scratched through to the wood. The fretted is a p-copy with a blue sparkle metallic finish, so there are a bunch of little silver-sparkle spots and the ones on the fretless are just very small, shallow dents.
