Bass names

My short scale Sadhana is "Baby"...all the others really don't have names other than "the j", "the p", "the Rowan" etc..
It cracks me up when people say things like "Are you going to play your FENDER Jazz bass tonight?" No, I'm going to play my Gibson Jazz bass.

Not really names, they usually get abbreviated names, I seldom refer to them using brand name and model. :)

So it's "The fretless" (Custom fretless V), "The fiver" (Grendel V), "The Shark" (Status Shark), "The seven" (Groove Tools 7), and so on.

There is one, however, that has a real nick name: The Audi. It's an old beat-up Guitar Workshop Jazz bass that has been refinished using dark blue Audi metallic lacquer. :)

I've got 2 basses today, that'll be 3 tomorrow. Pretty darn exciting huh?

This one I like to call The Hellraiser... it's all about the low B... It's my main heavy metal bass for obvious reasons!

This is my second bass, I call her The Smack Addict, cos all I want to do is slap her :D

This is the bass that should be arriving tomorrow all the way from the USA, fingers crossed the UPS guy won't steal it like he did my brother's parcel last week (forged the doorman's signature and walked out with it- all caught on CCTV). This one I'm christening Little Ben, for extremely obvious reasons! Thanks Ben! xx :smug:

Let's see, theres...

-The Teisco - The Teisco. It used to be name Dorothy, but Teisco is easier.
-The Six - Gretsch VI
-Molly/The Ibanez - Ibanez artcore. It's kinda sad, cause I don't really like it anymore, and it's the only one with a name.
-The Hurricane- a Moridira Hurricane that's been sitting in my bedroom in pieces for a loooong time
-The Turser- black Turser beatle bass

I call my five string "the five string" or sometimes "the main axe"

The four string "the four string"

The fretless "the fretless"

I love them but I have never ever thought of giving them names.

Although at one times I did call my Fender 65 my second wife.

Oh My God..........

What do you guys call your babies?

My wife thinks re-naming inanimate objects that alrady with names and model references/numbers is pointless, and she ridicules me if I discuss naming my babies with her :)

So I call my ESP "The ESP" or "The F104", my J&D fiver "The JD" or "The 5 string" and my Canora is often referred to as "The Canora" or "My Old Banger".

And I'd get my balls for breakfast if I ever dared name a bass with a girl's name ...

My bass is named Artemis Moon, because the bass is like a wild untamed beast that encourages me into wilder stage behavior than anything else I've ever owned. Hence Artemis, the Greek goddess of wild creatures. I chose Moon as the last name, because my last name means "the moon."

She has a sticker on the control cavity cover that says Artemis.

It took me a year before I named her. Naming a bass is important and it needed to be perfect and meaningful.

The only name that has ever stuck on any bass for any length of time was my SGC Nanyo Bass Collection 4-string that I owned from 93-96. "The Grit Mongler" aka "The Purple Monster." I miss it sometimes.

I want to name my others, but I can't seem to make the names stick, even in my own head. So they're "The Breedlove" (unofficially "Grodd"), "The Fender" (unofficially "Sinestro"), "the beater" (unofficially "Grundy"), and "The Fusion" for now.

So I dig the Legion of Doom from "Challenge of the Superfriends" - so what?
