was certain that Joe Satriani was a well kept secret, and " can play whatever fits the tune, man, what scale, the... PEDORIAN (I'm not kidding) scale... I just listen to a tune and by the time they come around to the second... bar... I've got it memorized, man. I just run up the G string 'til I find the note, then I know what key I'm in"
There was a good bit more, but 'Pedorian' really stuck with us.

And heres a convo I had with him on msn:

Just make a deal with him:Bassists who spell bass "B-A-S-E."
And this keyboardist I know, he's been playing for 8 years and the best he can do is the rocky theme tune, and a variety of Christmas songs. And heres a convo I had with him on msn:
Him: no one can even hear the bass being played!!!!
Me: You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
Him: yes i do. no one cares about the bass!!!
Me: Would you ever just shut up.
Him: i wil when u agree tat a bass isn't a proper instrument!!!!!!!

"Play the Seinfeld theme!"
I get it so frequently, it's really annoying now.
What's really funny about this is the Seinfeld Theme was played on a Keyboard! http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-10024.htmleek the dreaded sound of "seinfeld bass".... it's everything i hate about bass guitar.... If anyone asked me to play that I'd probably threaten to bash them over the head with my bass and say that the only way that sound will ever come from my instrument is if I'm dead first....

Bass players that are actually guitar players and only play bass because their band couldn't find a real bass player.![]()

Guitarists that don't know theory, but try to play it off like they don't need it:
A friend and I ran into this dude outside our apartment building the other night, we were talking about learning some lick or other by ear, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere comes a third voice - "Yeah, man! That's the only way TO play!"
Come to find out, this man plays guitar for "oh, longer than you been alive", was certain that Joe Satriani was a well kept secret, and " can play whatever fits the tune, man, what scale, the... PEDORIAN (I'm not kidding) scale... I just listen to a tune and by the time they come around to the second... bar... I've got it memorized, man. "It's all in the fingers, man" - No, it's not. This is only true if you're Steve Harris (how the HELL does he sound like that on a P-Bass with flats?). Okay, sure, he apparently has two custom made amps he's used for years that help out, but still. Damn.
