I just this in the mail JUST NOW. It was so awesome! Congrats on the cover. I was thinking"Is that who I think that is?".
OK, have to suck it up to ask - but how did you pick the bass for the picture? Personally, I would have posed with the T-bird
Man, thank you all so much. I could die now after that cover and be happy, no joke. Well, except for all the records I want to make, all the meals I want to have, seeing my daughter grow up, and doing all the traveling I want to do before I get too old. So never mind, I guess that was a joke. 
I actually took all KINDS of photos for the cover with many basses, that's just the one they liked, I guess. Had to give it up to Fender this time anyway, 'cuz they are my guys and have really helped me out for this tour. But the T-Birds get lots of good airtime during our shows.

I think it's a great shot on the cover. I love a precision with D'addario Nickels. Interesting artical.
What like a bout Justin most, awesome grooves and multi-genre ability aside, is how he matches his pants with his PBasses. Congrats sir on the cover.

I really liked the rack picture showing (almost all) the gear you use on that tour, because it's cool to realize it's very down-to-earth stuff. No fancy custom build exotic preamp or pedal, this is usual stuff any of us can buy and use (well, buying the whole stuff the same day may be a bit expensive, but that rack isn't completely unreachable).
It really points out that dialing in the good sound for a gig isn't a matter of how much ultra-expensive gear you use, but definitely to learn to use and tweek the gear you have ...

Yeah, my rack is pretty damn down to earth, there's no rocket science there. I have some custom built power supplies, but other than that, everything else is off the rack.
I could do this show with a Pod X3 Live and a few extra pedals if I had to, with some clever programming. Better yet, I could do the whole gig in Guitar Rig 3 if I had to as well!

JMJ that is too cool-- I heard you were on the cover and convinced my parents to mail my issue to Boston (I'm from NJ but go to school in Boston) so I could read it. Awesome article.
I was wondering if you could explain how that kind of thing happens. Of course you have to be one heinous bassist to get the cover, or even an article for that matter, but do they just call you and go 'hey justin, we want to interview you for the cover of BP, etc.'? I know you have been interviewed by them before (the pedal review issue comes to mind) but this seems to be a far more involved, whole other level kind of thing. Thanks.

I am indeed, and thanks for the props, I'm glad you thought it was good. It's quite a rollercoaster out here every night! Lots to do, lots to possibly go wrong/not work/break down. But that's an exciting edge to walk on.
