ok a bit of an update. havent had the chance to really work on the bass in a while. i think i figured out my problem.... im a moron haha. the slot for the A string is too wide and the string is viprating against the inside of the Nut. so i have a few options. fix it with something (suggestions on this would be nice) or buy a new neck from RondoMusic which would be kinda nice because the neck on this bass is pretty heavy. i have some graduation money i might be able to put towards fixing this. Replacing the neck because of a nut slot that is to wide seems a little drastic. The cheap, simple solution, is to fill the slot with baking soda, and add a drop of super glue. When its dry refile the slot. The right way would to go ahead and replace the nut.

the problem is that the slot for the nut is a weird size and i dont think i helped when i was clearing the glue out after i removed the nut. a normal 1/8 nut would be too small. i would have to get a large blank like i did this time. which i am willing to do but it was a ton of work.

Go inexpensive, replace it or do the baking soda method suggested. Swapping a neck over just a nut problem is, IMO, useless and just insane. I'm sure you'll get used to the neck anyway. I had the same thing going on with my thunderbird. That neck is almost like a baseball bat and heavy, hence the dive. But i got used to it and i love it.

sorry i didnt respond. i have everything squared away. ended up going with a jazz pre slotted nut. fit fine and had the same exact spacing. also didnt need to file the slots at all. audio coming sometime this next week.

so the total to buy and fix everything that includes pickups, the guitar itself, the nut(both of them), strings, and everything to repair it came out to just over 230 bucks. im extremely satisfied with the end product. curious to hear what you guys have to say about the tone and look.

Tonal possibilities are good- clear, and good range, plays clean.
Sounds like you got that nut issue resolved.
Funny about pics rendering on diff screens, but, IMO, I prefer the maroon-like color seen in the vid to the redder tint in the photo-
Both look great, just a choice thing...
And a great total price for a bass that sounds and plays like you want.

yea. its the same color. its got some bright red flake in it as well as the regular red paint so in low light like at my desk it shows up marroon but in full light its a brilliant red. and yea the tone is "toned" down a bit by the mic im useing. its just a plain blue yeti and my bass is being played through a behringer amp. my hope is for christmas to get the Hartke VXL Bass Attack pedal instead of the Sans amp. ive listened to a few videos of what it can do and as long as i can find a setting i like im excited about it. then after that i wanna get a volume pedal and maybe a reverb and thats about it.
