Bass purchase -Advice?

Hello, First time poster, go easy....I played double bass and elctric bass for 15 years from school age but dropped off. I'm looking to get back into it, and would really appecite some advice on a reasobable model (bass guitar) to start off with again -the last bass I had / played was Fender Jazz, around 74 model. Any genuine advice / suggestions apprectiated! Cheers:bassist:

If you liked the bass you had, I would suggest a Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz. They're reasonably priced and get high marks from a lot of folks around here.

I did something very similar to you, in that I didn't play for many years, and then decided to get back into it. I went to a local pawn shop and picked up an unlabeled P-bass for $47 cash. I've gotten/made four other basses since then, but I still have and still play my "pawn shop special".

It depends on your budget. I picked up an MIA 2006 Fender Standard American Jazz on TB for $650 shipped. I frequently see them from $700 - $800. Not to knock other basses, but it's tough to beat an MIA Fender Jazz for versatility and value.
