Most black metal (and the black metal that I write) is E or D Standard, I see no use for the low B string.

I own the Spector Legend 5 Classic Bass Guitar (Black Cherry Gloss).
It is a really nice bass in the price range that it is in.
Not everyone loves the Bartolini's, They are super clean. For me they make sense for the 5 string as it is a nice piano like resonance, no farting out.

The Legend Classic Walnut Burl has a different pickup configuration (PJ) although they're also Bartolinnis. I will follow your advice and post in the Spector Club, thanks!
I have to think that the real question is active or passive. I say this because technique plays more of a factor. A session player with a P-bass could play "heard it through the grapevine" and then play "mark of the beast" without changing any gear.

I have zero technique as of today. So I guess it's similar to guitars right? Passive reacts more to the dynamics of the fingers, and actives have more compression?
I would look on YouTube for isolated bass lines from metal songs that you like.
I hit Active Jazz because you didn't have passive Jazz up there. If you had a "carrots" choice (basically none of the above, other, or it doesn't matter), I would have chosen that. My bass of choice since 1966 has been the passive Fender Jazz Bass. Just has great sound with a good amp and cabs.
Kinda like grabbing the microphone at an Uber convention and asking "Can anyone give me a ride?"
It is seemingly a never ending road, but it would seem it is more possible than I once thought it was. What's worse is our ideas of preferred metal tone can be wildly different. So, this is just one of those "just keep going through them and, if you find it, you will know" kind of things. lol.
How Can That Be? a low B comes with C, C# D and Eb! Perhaps you have never experienced these things. E isn't very black. More of a brown but not The brown note (by far). C#, now that's BLACK.
I own the Spector Legend 4 Classis in Matte Black and Trans Red...They get all the playing time over my USA Fender Jazzes and Laklands. Very versatile, comfortable neck and lightweight!
Maybe it's just me - none of those choices say "black metal" to me...

I love how that bass looks and the simplicity of the single volume knob. However, it's not available in Mexico unless I order it from a distributor.
Oh too bad! Just to clarify, my comment was more around the looks of the bass. Chances are you could make any of your selections work for sound & playability, but IMHO black metal is equally about image & style. It should just look more dangerous.
