The neck and bridge pickups in a Jazz bass have opposite windings. As long as you don't solo a pickup it will be humbucking.I actually like the jazz bass sound very much but I'm worried about the hum that the single coils will provide.
Rick... enbacker? Aren't those things like super expensive?Any Rick!
Didn't know that... Does it work the same way for a PJ?The neck and bridge pickups in a Jazz bass have opposite windings. As long as you don't solo a pickup it will be humbucking.
Not really, the P split-coil (a humbucker in fact) would have to be wired in series to connect as parallel to the J then; to me the P/J never made sense therefore.Didn't know that... Does it work the same way for a PJ?

Oh man, that's what I'm afraid of... I just wanted and all-rounder for my home studio but I see that there's no such thing as that.I'd say start saving, you are asking questions in this forum so I can tell, you are gonna end up with more than one bass for sure!
a 5string, P, J, MM, etc.
I used to have 1 bass when I joined the forum, now I'm out of control basses, heads, cabinets, pedals, cases, and for some reason I have more straps than basses.Oh man, that's what I'm afraid of... I just wanted and all-rounder for my home studio but I see that there's no such thing as that.
The same thing happened to me but with guitars. At some point you start questioning every decision you've made in your life lol.I used to have 1 bass when I joined the forum, now I'm out of control basses, heads, cabinets, pedals, cases, and for some reason I have more straps than basses.
but being serious, out of what you mentioned, I don't know, in all honesty go to the stores and try some basses, and forget about the name on the headstock, you will find the one that feels and sounds good to you.
They definitely ain't cheap.Rick... enbacker? Aren't those things like super expensive?
The see through black stain looks pretty good imo.As some of you guys suggested a 5 string... Now I'm looking at the Schecter Stiletto Session 5, double humbuckers, emg pickups. Not crazy about the looks tho.
Are you sure that's the session 5? As far as I know the only color is this one.The see through black stain looks pretty good imo.
Ops my bad. Apparently was looking at the studio 5Are you sure that's the session 5? As far as I know the only color is this one.
Yeah the stiletto studio is awesome, but sadly it's not available in Mexico and if it is, is too overpriced. The Stiletto extremes that I've seen come with proprietary pickups which I'm not a fan of, as does the Stealth (although I do like the MM/P configuration). So basically I'm left with the Session, that has active Emg's.Ops my bad. Apparently was looking at the studio 5
Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 Bass Guitar - See-Thru Black Satin
There is also the Extreme 5 w/emg & the Stealth 5 (not emg) in the black stain
Well nothing a can of flat black paint can't fix.Yeah the stiletto studio is awesome, but sadly it's not available in Mexico and if it is, is too overpriced. I've never re-painted an instrument. Will rake a look at that.Well nothing a can of flat black paint can't fix.
Stop over and visit the rattle can club, they could give you some good tips for a DIY refin![]()
It looks like a stock finish, very well done!I bought this bass right here off TB. The seller did a rattle can refin. Burnt Red w/satin finish? I dunno but my wife saw it and said buy it so I did.
