I have and it's possible, but I really have no reason to. Other than a physical handicap, I can't think of any other reason to do it.
I am playing a broadway show that swaps between upright and electric and fretless and i have to change instruments quickly. Thanks

Are You playing "wicked"? I've played it, I got away without using a stand. I was told I needed one, but I did much better setting the bass on it's side on a chair as I always do.
I can't think of a single type of portable stand that does not press on the back table in some form or fashion, thus limiting its ability to vibrate. This will mute the instrument and alter its tone. As another person suggested, pull a chair nearby and lean the bass on it. It should be easy enough to place the EB on a stand and quickly pick up the DB.
Yeah i read a bunch of reviews about the muting, but i think that space is limited thus the stand, i will probably purchase one and then bring a chair in case i can pull it off. Thanks for the advice. yes the show is wicked.
