Bass Strings Online is Closing

Sounds like a cordial invitation, Jason. Jump on it.

I'm sort of joking with Jason, but not completely. He's been here visiting the Lab, dropping off some cases or strings or something. We would welcome his business in among us Secret Underground Luthiers.

Ventura Highway in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You're gonna go I know

We haven't got the moonshine stills planned out yet, but we are (seriously) working on the home beer brewing setup. Scott was picking hops buds from this summer's crop last evening. He hopes to get an initial brewing session in this fall, as the plumbing comes together. Bigger production next year.

If it’s moonshine, home brew, and cheap livin’ you want, that’s all we do down here in the Carolinas! You could live here for a year on what 2 months in California costs, and you can’t step off the porch without tripping over a still :)
I did some work on the east coast many years ago and the end of day engineering meetings normally included passing around a Mason jar of home cooking. We worked on the harder problems first. As the Mason jar became depleted every problem got easier.

Funny how just a little bit of corn squeezin's make all of life's little problems vanish!

Hello everyone!

Again I can't thank you all enough for the kind words, prayers, and good wishes. This thread really made me think about a lot of things. After a lot of discussion with my wife, we are continuing our plans. Once everything in our life normalizes we hope to get BassStringsOnline back to what it used to be and better.

pcake - Yes BassStringsOnline was in Chattsworth for about 3 years. A little more than a year ago I moved the shop to Temecula. Thankfully we now live in Murrieta where I am 10 miles from the shop. 15 minute drive no traffic, 45 minutes with traffic, and 22 minutes my dirt road backway with no cell phone service! The commute is not the issue. We moved out here as it is much more reasonable hoping to cut costs... It didn't work as planned.

Jason -

Thank you again for being very accommodating for when I stopped by the shop unannounced. I really do hope you are able to stay open because I could not have asked for better service. You have a wonderful family and everything will work out if it’s meant to be.

I don't really browse the string forum, so I was totally blindsided by your news, Jason. Although I have not purchased strings from you...oh, after we talked a few months back, I was working up to do just that--too late, at least for now. No, my contact with you was when you sold me my newest Genzler gear--which I love!
I was so very impressed with your professionalism as well as your outstanding communication and customer service...you are a rare breed and a wonderful example of how a business owner should operate. I enjoyed our few conversations and always left knowing more than when I rung you up...thank you! I know you will succeed in any endeavor that you may choose...you are just that kind of guy. I hope and pray that all works out and things settle down for you and your family.

Best wishes,
Kim

Jason is the bomb!

Announces that he's closing up shop, so i rush to place an order for 2 sets of what's left that i haven't yet tried, at a discounted price. They arrive in 2-3 days!

I also commented here that it's too bad my fave strings in a hard to find gauge are sold out, or i would have stocked up. He PMs me immediately saying he's placing one more order with the manufacturer... how many would i like? They came yesterday >

Thanks again, Jason :)

It's sad to see another string seller go, but I hear he may reopen again so I hope to see it. I bought my first set of custom strings for my first 5 string bass from this guy, and was looking to do the same with my first 6 string. Hopefully I'll get to buy some from him again one day. Luck to you, my dude.

Thank you Jason for your dedication and the best customer service I've ever experienced. Your patience and attention to detail, when I would order some bizarre mix of gauges and have my orders muled over from the US to Europe, are one of many reasons I'm grateful to have received your support and dedication. BSO was an exceptional place for me to get strings and advice. Best of luck!!
