Bass Strings Online is Closing

I want to make a last order before the shop closes. I dobt really need strings, but hell ... why not.

I have a set of groundwound ( GHS? ) strings on a Tobias.... would they be comparable to pressurewound, as I don't se groundwound on the site?

Did you ask them about possibly stocking your favorite brand and style?

Happens to me all the time. Someone orders a set, I have to order 6 of them to fulfill their single string order... Then are stock with the other 5 sets. They set for a few months, I'm tired of looking at them so heavily discount them to move them. They finally move then someone else wants one set again....

Yeah, I mean I get it.. kind of why I qualified the original post with (if applicable). I'm lucky my local store stocks a good variety and my go-to's are almost always on the shelf. When he's out, that's when I experiment.

It's my local guitar center. I've asked several times then just figured the brain dead 20something behind the counter just doesn't care. So I order from someone who does care and gives excellent customer service. Survival of the fittest. So my strings get delivered right to my mailbox and I don't have to drive a half hour to talk to this guy.

Makes perfect sense.

I’m sure it’s even worse at a brick and mortar, where one out of every 15 people that walk in is a bass player.

Not to mention order minimums too.

First music store I ever worked in had a great policy for all string orders that weren't "meat and potatoes" sets (and those brands and gauges really haven't changed much in over 30 years!) - if the minimum order was a box, and it usually was, you were buying a box or you could go somewhere else. You live and die by inventory turn in retail and we were not going to have nine sets of Roto 35-95 sitting around until the heat death of the universe.

Yep seem likes a tough position to be in to be honest. Don't wanna be stuck with it, but you can't hold it against the customer if they do go elsewhere in that case. Our local music shop only stocks 45-105 in ghs so I don't buy strings there anymore. Only brand with gauge options in that shop are d'addario.

Just placed what may be my last order :( (although I just saw in another thread he still has some incoming DR orders, so. . .maybe not)

And everyone be sure to keep checking the site. Looks like new stuff is being/has been added to the 'In Stock Items' section.

Well, at least he still has some of my favorites in stock. I don't necessarily need strings, but I'll make sure to support him at least once before he closes up for good.

Was incredibly great do deal with as a Canadian buyer, Still not sure where I'm gonna go now or even if i can find that kind of variety and pricing again.
