It does, but the common complaint about the BP series' "Whammy" mode is in regards to range and tracking.
I don't see how anyone can disagree with Jauqo on this. I'm backing him 100%. If the company won't make a profit off of this, they won't do it. Plain and simple. Sure FX companies exist to provide us with gear, but above all they exist to make money. Digitech aren't going to lose time, effort, and money to make a few bp's happy when they could be focusing on products that will actually sell.
And no, I don't think JC endorsing this pedal will help it's sales. Most people who know JC/Tool knows that he uses a Bass Whammy.
And just to clarify, I'd like a Bass Whammy in my setup myself and I'm all for the reissue - but realistically I just don't see it happening.

I am in constant talks with Digitech and I have had several discussions with Digitech about the possibility of re-releasing the Bass Whammy pedal. It's not going to happen, period.
And for the record, at this point Digitech has no plans, to offer any new Bass pedals of any kind because bass pedals is not where the bulk of their profits are coming from.
iv owned that pedal, and i thought the whammy settings on it were kinda iffy...at best....
iv gone through 2 bass whammys, 2 wh-4s, an xp-100, a bp-8 , a HOG, and now own a boss ps-3 with an expression pedal attached....
they all have their ups and downs, and there is not one that is better then another, the perfect set up would be owning all of them... nothing too great with the xp-100, and the HOG wasnt too my liking all too much. the bass whammy sounded awesome, but the warble when i sustained a second chord, and the glitchyness when i didnt play a note hard enough was really annoying, the wh-4 only had 2-3 settings on it that i would use, the xp-100 was too digital and lost a bit more low end then im happy with, the bp-8 shifting sounded like a trememlo was on high, the HOG turned my bass into a guitar...unless i hit the "reverse" button. the ps-3, has a slight delay, and its a pain to dial in the settings unless you put markers on the pedal, or listen while u dial... and for live settings, who can do that and who has the time?....also the drop D pitch shifting could sound more stable.
i am currently enrolling in an electric engineer program at my college, it will be my major... not just because i want to make pedals, thats just a side thing, but one of the things i would like to eventually build is a programmable pitch shifter with a memmory bank, sort of a hybrid xp-100 and ps-3..... the ability to dial in settings and then save them to an on board memory stick

well, one of the things most people hate about the ps5 is that you need to select which key you are playing in....
Depends. I have it and you can have it be an intelligent shifter(then you choose the key) or a standard pitch shifter. I use it most on the later, and I really really dig this pedal. To each their own though.
I can kinda see those faults (although my main problem was something else) but I never played with any of the other ones. I guess I assumed they were just as bad. But with a little attention, I can work around the main fault (IMO, processing time delay) to the point where it is almost a non-issue, especially for me where opportunities to put those functions to practical use are few and far between.

you would still have to pick the key you are playing in to get that harmony setting right...
from what i understand, the ps-3, like whammys and the such just recognize the note, and then calculate the harmony from there. but the ps-5, will need to be set to a specific key. so if you are playing an E but have the ps5 set to D, it will play an A over the E instead of a B

The PS-5 can not shift harmonies, it just goes from clean to harmonized. It can't go from a 5th to an oct for example. just from clean to an oct harmony etc.
