My neighbor has one on his cyclocross bike. He's happy with it. I've never tried one though.

If you're looking at oval chainrings, I know several others that swear by the ROTOR rings. Again, I've got no personal experience, but they seem to be popular around here. I've done a bunch of reading on them and I like the idea. One of these days, I'll give one a try and see how it goes.
Just found out that AB doesn't make one to fit my Specialized crank. I'm not sure I want to try it on my road bike, as it sees all the trainer duty. I'm going to have to think on this a bit and see if I can ride one somewhere before committing.
I looked into Rotor. The good news is they are in Colorado Springs, and I get there every now and then. Bad news is they are considerably more expensive than the AB, but they sell them as pairs. Their original looks a bit less oval than the AB, while their newer model looks quite similar to the AB.

I had Biopace chainrings on the first MTB I ever owned back in the early 90s. I didn't ride seriously enough to know if they did anything or not back then. Interesting concept and apparently they're supposed to be good for MTBers. Perhaps I'll try one next time I buy one. Currently using an MRP direct mount one which is pretty awesome, really. It mounts right on the BB splines and the offset is built into the ring. No spider!
Had a great ride today. Hard packed snow and ice made for fast trails. Still jonesing for a fatty but having a lot of fun on the skinny one all the same.
Reading from multiple sources says that the bio pace are 90 degrees off from where they should be.

a ride with fifteen of my buddies at 35 mph in a 55 mph zone taking up the whole lane and there's nothing you can do about it" thing going. One guy does it during rush hour on the main drags holding up dozens of cars every morning. Like there's nowhere else to ride at that exact time? He's gonna get hit one day by some really tense guy late for work.

I don't ride on the road much but in my experience the number of motorists who are ******** to cyclists is way higher than the number of cyclists who are ******** to motorists. I'd say my road time is 99% driving a car and 1% riding a bike, yet I've had way more incidents with drivers while on my bike than the other way around. When riding on the road, I am aware of both my rights and privileges and those of the others I share the road with and I go out of my way not to hang motorists up whenever possible yet I've been cursed at, buzzed within inches, had a half full can of beer(!) thrown at me, you name it. It's no wonder cyclists develop haughty attitudes. And yes, I've witnessed cyclists behaving badly too, but it's pretty infrequent. I'd rather take my chances riding down vertical rock faces and on slippery roots than on getting hit by some impatient/oblivious shithead on the road so I avoid it whenever possible, but I shouldn't have to.
My apologies. Reading back through it I shouldn't have even posted here. You guys are just bonding over a common interest. My experience locally has nothing to do with you guys showing off your gear like so many of our favorite bass gear threads here. I'll edit ASAP.
No worries, man. I'm sure we can all relate to people (other cyclists included) doing annoying things on the road.
I was going about 35mph on my TT bike once on a very empty rural road. I had a massive tailwind and was out of gears with my 53x11 combo. Some redneck still had to hassle me about passing me. I was fairly close to the right edge of the road and there was clear visibility for about a quarter mile. Guess what, the left lane was empty.
The other day, I was going to work and there was a guy who had the nerve to ride his bike in the morning. I went around him. Worst 10 seconds of my life.

I probably won't ride Specialized as long as they require a proprietary crank set. I use power meter cranks and those will move from bike to bike. I also don't do Cervelo's integrated derailleur hanger since those can snap and I don't want to be SOL.
Your experience has everything to do with being offended by slight inconveniences, and they say young people have an entitlement problem.
I personally prefer a withering gaze to a finger. I will take the lane, as I am legally allowed, when safety dictates. I will do so while commuting by bicycle as well.
