More often than not, I end up obsessing over basses that I see when watching a flick or TV show. I'll stop whatever I'm watching just to research the bass I saw and see if there's any potential for GAS. :D

The first one I think of was an Olympic white/tort Mustang spotted in an episode of "How I Met Your Mother".

The next one I saw was a Fender Deluxe Precision bass in the 2003 movie "Freaky Friday".

What basses have you spotted while watching movies or shows?

Big Bang Theory: Howard Wollowitz singing Bernadette (Jamerson!!!). A Fender Marcus Miller Jazz - if I'm not wrong - can be seen in the back.
The guy, who is behind BBT was a songwriter and vocalist from Canada, before he started creating fantastic sitcoms, if I am not wrong.
I have to admit, I like his stuff. As bestest as mainstream can get. Although as a bassplayer it is not exactly my favourite version of Bernadette:)
It can be spotted more often in the "cheese cake faktory" where Penny was working, before she became a medical sales representative. Oh those good old times at the cheese factory...

Now that we are talking Chuck Lorre - as bassplayers we have to be in control of everything: Did Alan's son in Two And A Half Man always play a Squier or did he change to a Fender without this worldchanging event becoming an issue? I was so in love and obsessed with Rose that I even stopped caring about Squier or Fender whatsoever....
I apologize.

How about the beautiful Olympic White Jazz Bass, as used by the bass player for the Mosquitos on Gilligan's Island?

Bernie Mac Show - he has a Blond body/Rosewood fingerboard P hanging on the wall behind him when "talks to America". I don't think I've ever seen the headstock, but probably a Squier? Someone told me yesterday that he was no longer with us, and I didn't remember that. Bummed me out....

Didn't notice that one in BBT, but that is my currently favorite show, so I'll keep an eye out for it. ;)

Cheers,

On Breaking Bad, Jesse's "friend" (his wife didn't let him give Jesse a place to crash for the night) played a Danelectro for an impromptu unplugged jam. I was always curious why that bass? Was it the actors? Did someone on set bring it in?

Good catch. I must have missed that one. I saw all but one episode, I think. Second season. What a great show!
