Well, it did say "aren't over the top" so I figured nothing too radical. Why I avoided pointy bodies, multi-scale etc.

I do like these two, even if I might not use them on a blues gig:

Love the look of those stripes on the white. And thumbs up for matching them on the headstock.

Not meant as a "dig" or negative in anyway, but those stripes are very reminiscent to the stuff that used to show up on Tshirt iron on's from the 70's. There was a shop in every mall, when there were malls.

I bought a Signature (Build a Bass) loaded J body many years ago. I just tried to find if they are still out there but no dice. That (heavy) alder body ended up morphing into a bass that fits the theme here -

I always get remarks and questions when I show up with my Mockingbird, especially from other bass players who've never seen one in the wild. I don't play this one out as much since I got my Sadowski's but gigged it last Saturday and reminded myself (again) why I love it so much and can't bring myself to sell it. Sounds killer and looks great. And so does the bass... Always wondered why you don't see these more.

I used to have that bass as well as the Trans Black one. Beautiful basses and they sounded really good as well, but the ergonomics of it did not work well with me. If I played one bass and then picked up the Mockingbird I would actually miss notes . That is the only bass that would happen to me. I finally ended up letting them go although I still have the Warlocks which have the same electronics and sound the same.

Now one mans over the top is another mans thing of beauty. Here are a few of mine that stand out visually:
