NOTHING beats Bubinga!!!
PS - these came from the same piece of wood...the fretless (Bubinga board and ebony blocks) was stained slightly because the wood top was thinner (to allow the Luthier to cut the fret board) ...the stain was applied in a "burst fashion" around the edges and front/back to make the transition to the lighter colored alder not noticeable from the front and sides....that is why it looks a bit darker.

I dunno my walnut stain bass sounds just fine to my ears. I guess I'll just stick to what my ears can afford.

This is a Moyones BE Exotic, made from Ovangkol with Mahogany neck and Wenge fret board. Heavy sucker 10 lbs.
