Basses with that "Hi-Fi" sound

So Im really happy with my selection of instruments as of now and I absolutely LOVE my new Stingray 5 HH. However I dont really have anything that gets that HiFi sound so Im thinking of setting my sights on another instrument.
Perhaps Roscoe? MTD? Modulus? Prestige Soundgear?
Im thinkin of those but want to know what else you guys would think fits.
This is something that Ill save for so I dont really mind the pricing of higher end basses but Id like to keep it below $3kish.
Used is of course fine with me.
I'd prefer a 6 string.... a 5 would be acceptable... a 7 would be a possibility as well.

Just throw out some ideas.... put up some sound clips if ya want.
And yes, I know that Im not describing what I feel is the HiFi sound but Im doing that because I want to know what you feel fits that description.

I would. Not sure what your definition of Hi Fi is, but Musicman basses are THE definition of Hi Fi tone, IMO, at least that's exactly how they've been described for the past 30+ years. So I don't see why the original poster is inquiring about obtaining Hi Fi tone when he should have it already in a Stingray.

If someone's equating Hi Fi with modern or sterile, then I suppose you could consider any of the graphite/composite basses such as aforementioned Zon, Modulus, or Steinberger.

ANY MTD, Carvin SB5000 and SB4000, Most Pedullas. Being a 7 string player I have owned quite a few; Conklins and Bee basses are very modern Hi Fi sounding instruments. Low End makes 4, 5 6, and 7 and are definitely hi fi sounding. Budget wise the Fender Squire Deluxe active Jazz also captures that hi fi sound as do Status Graphite basses.

That "modern" tone has pretty much taken the definition of a hifi tone as a lot of them surpass the clarity of those basses in terms of reproducing the full range of a bass, which is what hifi is about. Even if not for those modern choices, I've owned a Stingray and Bongo and have played many others, and the Stingray (along with other non-composite basses) surpasses the Bongo in that clarity.

Good ideas so far..... to me my stingray has a big growl to it.
As far as what I call HiFi.... im thinking of that really punchy sound with a very present midrange while using fingers. Im gonna search youtube for some examples.

this is fairly close.
Also if anybody listens to heavyish music the bass player of Otep really hits the tone with his cirrus.
I guess you can describe it as a fretted bass almost having a fretless tone to it. Usually I get close to this by plucking with a good amount of attack about an inch or two from the saddles.
