I played bass as a teenager growing up in Scotland but dropped it - figuratively, not literally speaking - for about twenty years. Now I'm back playing bass with a couple of friends in Atlanta and loving it!
It's all just for fun at this point, playing in my basement once a week - got an understanding wife and my kids love listening/watching us. The drummer has a similar story to mine in that he played as a teen, though in Bolivia, and has just started playing after twenty-plus years. The guitarist went through college on a bass-playing scholarship though he plays guitar in our band.
We play Ramones, Sex Pistols, Supergrass, Police, generally anything rauccous, short and relatively simple! But it's a lot of fun. Love this forum, I've picked up a lot of tips here and appreciate the time people take to post questions and answers!
