Bassist With Best Distortion Tone

That guy from Death From Above 1979.
He's got massive distortion. So much that it's just him and a drummer and they don't use a guitarist. Sounds good too.
That level of distortion, however, wouldn't be suitable for most other music, I think.
 
I'm not big on F/X. At all. And it's only because of my lack of experience with'em. I'm certainly not against a good,gritty,grinding tone,for sure.
As a matter of fact,I'd love to score a nice pedal. I just don't have any idea where to start. Listen to me,I'm sounding like a greenhorn on here.lol.
I've always dug Eddie Jackson's (Queensryche) tone on their album titled,"EMPIRE". I just l-o-v-e that tone.:bassist:
