Colin Greenwood of Radiohead is so talented, always unique and tasteful in a band of prolific players
A band that, on paper, I would despise and dismiss without listening. Turns out, they kill, and Jesse Murphy has become one of my favorite bassists. Here is but one great example:
I always think of Wilco as Radiohead's Americana's cousin (I'm a huge fan of both). I think John plays an extremely similar role in Wilco as Colin does in Radiohead. Both are very solid, tasteful backbones to a band full of crazies

I liked him. This is when Ben Harper was singing and playing the songs I liked. Good Band.
I think this thread would be more useful/entertaining if more people would post a name to go along with the picture and band(s) to go with the name. Even as a bass player, I don't know the names of most bands' bass players unless I am a big fan of said band, and I definitely don't know what most of them look like unless they've achieved some degree of iconic status.
Tina Weymouth! Great sensibility, great tone, who hasn't borrowed a couple of her riffs?
Colin Hodgkinson. Check out his work with Back Door from the 70s and his more recent work as a leader. Best player you never heard.
He used my bass rig one time. We opened for Harley a few years ago.
