One cool thing about the braid is it makes access to the neck area for trimming and shaving much easier - I love chin beard, but I hate neck beard...

I just shaved off the beard. It's getting warmer out and we hit 90F earlier today. Summer is coming fast and I know that having the full beard will just be awful in the heat. Especially with the respirator I use during my day job as an industrial painter.

I suppose I should update my avatar . . . .

Never had an interest in beard or mustache. I usually do a #2 haircut all around since about 2015 when I saw overhead video of us as a band and saw a shiny spot starting on the top of my head. Almost 55 years of solid hair. Not bad.

This time, I did a #1 all around and now my wife runs her fingers through it.

This is cheating a bit because I grew this out during 2022 and rhen shaved it off this past spring.

I'm currently clean shaven and will very likely stay this way for good.

This thread lost momentum, a couple weeks before I could grow mine out.

I never had a full facial hair until a few years ago. I retired from the Army Reserve in 2004. I grew a goatee at that time, as work limited me to 3/8" facial hair. I went with that until 2017, when work allowed up to a 1/2" beard, so I grew it out to a full short beard. I retired from my job on June 22, 2023 and I started growing it out that last week.

My profile picture was October 2023:

I did grow a full "yeard" and June of 2024 I trimmed it:


I trimmed it shortly after that picture.

Then here it is October 25th:


I was trying the handlebar moustache, but was a little too much to maintain in addition of maintaining the beard properly.

So are there any other bearded bassists out there aside from those who posted previously?

After a couple decades of just letting the thing grow, I decided I’ll keep it shorter. As I get older (71 now) what hair I have left just gets thinner. My beard has gotten too thin to keep it long.

The one pic is from our stay in Ireland. 70+ mph winds at the Cliffs of Mor. Kids had to crawl. If we had winds that strong at home, we would be in the basement.

FWIW, last time I shaved was January, 1978.
