Bassswitch IQ DI????

I'm not sure I get the DI out the right. Seems very counter intuitive on a pedal to have an output on the right side.

I guess if your going to use this as a master control you will probably design your board around it anyway so maybe a non issue.

To me it just seems strange.

On a lesser note I will also go on the record again that I do not comprehend why with few exceptions bass specific products are black on black with black and look like darth vader should own them.

Hello,

The pedal, if used on a board, is designed to be on the right side of the board.

This is what we figured out to create the lowest possible cable length and cable mess on the board.

That is also why the DI out is on the right.

Somebody coming to Namm welcome to take a picture of my board, that would be self-explaining, I have unfortunately no access to my pedalboard pictures from here. You can also have a look at Florian's board on you tube.

The colour was choosen to keep it discrete in a life setting, some of the beta testers requested this. This being said I like black

Jacques

Hello Bart

Correct this is my demo board used on the NAMM 2011.

I use the Catalinbread SFT in an extreme distorted mode to show how the blend of a distorted signal with a clean signal in the mixloop of the Basswitch IQ DI can deliver a very useful bass sound.

Jacques

I think this is your board Jacques:

Jacques, I'm the photographer from Bass Gear Mag that talked to you on saturday. I must admit I am very impressed. This is probably the only piece that I walked away from the NAMM show with GAS for. One more note. It will run on ANY power supply from 9-20v. Those of us who are using Bassbones know what a pain it is to deal with the 15v power supply.

Yeah, but for a $500+ price tag, and I'm sure it's REAL nice, I think you won't see too many.

I'd like to have one, but I think I may have to wait untill one shows up used.

Here's a shot of it. The best I could do in the lighting of NAMM which is always a challenge.

Thank you for your kind words.

It makes me happy to read that I was right to spend all that effort to launch the development of a highend pedal for the bass market and that the message is making its way.

Jacques

Hello Mike,

I do not know how many we will sell, but I am convinced we will see very few second hand.

This being said I am fighting to be able to maintain the 500 USD street price tag which is incredibly low for what the basswitch is.

I'm not doubting the quality of it.
And heck man, this is Talkbass, stuff is always selling because none of us can ever make up our minds on gear! LOL!!! :D

Question that I am not sure has been asked yet: Can you use the basswitch with headphones?

As a guy who could go ampless on at least 1/3 of his gigs, this looks really great to me. I'd love to be able to get away with my 6, an upright, the Basswitch and some IEMs.

You would still need some way of mixing in the rest of the band/ensemble, right? Plus, IEM systems already have a headphone amp built into the body pack.

Not a true IEM system - I would just need to hear myself. Right now I bring my amp, my DI, my A/B, my volume pedal, and my headphones. I would like to try and consolidate as much as possible!

If thats the case its more of a matter of your IEM's and not whats ahead of it. You could, send your DI to the FOH and then use the line out to your IEM's.
