Bassswitch IQ DI????

I pull a couple of hundred gigs a year and lots of fly in dates where I'd like to be able to walk off the plane with just my gig bag and a good pre-amp pedal.
I've been looking for a unit like this, but I've been tossing between the Radial, EBS MicroBassII and even the SansAmp.

Need another beta tester?? LOL!!!

Looking forward to checking one out.
(put a nice optical compressor in there ala' Demeter......;) )

Hello Mike

What you say is what brought me to develop the Basswitch IQ DI, but the Basswitch IQ DI is more than a preamp.

I like to compare it with a swiss army knife. It incorporates an A/B switcher to toggle between 2 basses or to make 2 sounds available for one bass, an impedance switch to be able to connect directly piezo pu's, on top of normal pu's, a high-end preamp to adapt the level between two basses or two sounds or to serve as a standalone pre, a 4 band EQ with double parametric mids, a passive serial loop (For compressor, volume pedal and similar), a switchable mixloop (allows to mix from dry over parallel to full serial signal path), a second high-end preamp to drive the mixloop or to act as solo booster if the Basswitch IQ DI is used in standalone mode and a high level DI Box.

This allows you to use the Basswitch IQ DI in standalone mode or as your command central on your pedal board and it will serve you as well in rehearsals than live than in the studio.

Just give us 3-4 more weeks an all the details will be available at our Internet site or if you have a chance visit is at Winter Namm 2011

Regards

Jacques

A transformer (which they use) is by itself typically a passive DI, however the whole thing is a preamp, an active device. So functionally think of it as an active DI.

One thing about transformers is that they are not "transparent" in a clinical sense, but they sound really good, and their coloration is subtle.

Wow, I saw the T/B ad for the basswitch and the eBay ad. I almost made the purchase, but I was leery about the ad. When i saw it on eBay I forwarded a link to my wife " I know what I want for Christmas" she almost did the buy it out. In between I contacted Jacques to gather some more information about the basswitch. He confirmed that there were no units available for sale anywhere. Diaster avoided.

Back to my issue. I am knew to TB. I play bass with an r/b horn band. I started using my pedals again. Ebs octave, chorus and filter. Ditched the filter when I found out about the mxr filter. Ditched the mxr for a groove regulator 2. Wow absolutely fantastic. Now i started looking for a clean boost. Currently using a fulltone fat boost 3. Hmm, read about the lehle Sunday driver and little lehle looper. That's it that's what I'll do use both of those for a mute, clean boost and line driver. I run an aguilar bass rig. Still I couldn't find the missing link. Tone hammer?, mxr, radial. I can't wait for the basswitch. It is the missing link

I had the first gen FatBoost.
Great sounding pedal.

Yes it's fat boost is great. Now I'm using it as a comp/low gain overdrive. Of course that's is until 3leaf audio comes out with his od pedal. After playing all these years I just started using my pedals again. It's nice to see technology has caught up to ours needs.
But I'm just a gasser at heart.

The man that developed the Sunday Driver is Mr Burkhard G. Lehle.

Look at what is written on the Basswitch on the lower right of the front panel...

Yup I saw that his "true tone" mark was there. Beautiful, please put me on the list when it becomes available. And thank you for responding to my emails so quickly. Nice to have that support.

Hello Jacques

Sounds very promising! Will it be suitable for double bass as well? I would double it with an electro-acoustic bass (Warwick Alien). If so, will it be suitable for a condensator mic + Realist (transducer) pick up and will it feed phantom power?

Hello Chris,

Yes the Basswitch IQ DI is suitable for double bass and in fact any bass instrument. Its 4 band EQ with double parametric mids and its electronics are designed to take care of the most demanding signals.

It could also mix a condensator mic and a transducer pick-up but is was not designed for that, only the transducer pickup would have the EQ available and it does not deliver phantom power.

From what I read I would use a headway EDB 1 for the double bass and feed it in channel B and use channel A for the Warwick Alien

This is definitely what I was waiting for!
Using EBS microbass II for years and was thinking of modding it for that third switch for fx loop on/off...now there's no need :hyper:

Well it is bit more than an on/off switch for an FX loop that we have here.

Their is first a switchable loop that allows you to mix in from 0% to a 100% of effect, plus that loop has a separate preamp with cut/boost function to give your effects exactly the amount of signal they need (if you use no pedals this preamp serves as a clean solo booster). Second you have behind that loop a second passive serial loop for those things that you want to keep in your signal chain all the time for instance a compressor or a volume pedal.

For more details go to Invalid Link Removed where you can download now on top of the brochure the user manual and very soon watch some demo videos.

Jacques
