no need to contact anyone. Ed is dealing with a medical issue and in HIS own words,.. "the meds are screwing up his mind, body, and soul". he's hyper-sensitive to the side effects apparently and was debating a sale of BT. that didn't happen and that's a damn shame. the place was fun with enough cool folks that i felt very fond of. it had some awesome contributors, namely the "Pedal Breeder Crew"!
also, a special thanks to Tat, Adi, Jay, Tan, Ryan, Chuck, Josh, Beef, Ben, Emmi, Nukes, R.I.P., Dave, and of course, Ed!!!
if i left any of my friends names out, it wasn't on purpose,...

Didn't realise he was unwell, that sucks, hope he gets better.

Yeah, scary eh? I set up my own website, then started getting all kinds of phone calls and e-mails from people looking to sell me web based services. I figured out they farmed my info from a register.com search. I should have hidden that info.

-Mike

You have to pay extra to make the info private at some name registries and I find that very annoying.

Things went downhill when they ran out of ways to photoshop themselves kicking my ass.

You give yourself too much credit, but I'll freely admit that I think you had a part in the creation of that forum and I'll always thank you for that. Respect! You handled it well.

I thought the site was invented so bass players could look at girlie pics without feeling as sleazy as the normal sleaze. When I couldn't find that it was no different than TB, except it included some characters I'm glad to not encounter anymore, so I never went back.

Actually, it had nothing to do with sleazy content. IMO, it had more to do with having adult conversations in a not always "adult" manner without getting whacked over nothing. I try to steer clear of forum politicking and policing, whatever. The guys over there were fantastic (IMO). A looser attitude was wanted and it provided an alternative. There were several posters there who were also active members here. Variety.

I think that was at least part of it. I distinctly remember there being grumblings among some that the restrictions on girlie pics here is too restrictive, and ballyhooed the idea of another site where bassists could post pin-ups without repercussions. As always, however, I could be wrong.

Of the guys who left, Ed was my fav. Actually several of those who joined 24/7 were ones I was glad to see go. Different strokes. :)

And as I said in my original post; apparently that didn't work out too well.....

Looks more like a management problem:

I'll miss it. It worked out fine as far as I could tell. Until it just up and folded today. I was a mod there in the first year and I know there was some behind the scenes drama that I steered clear of. Apparently, it never did get resolved and festered up to the point of the site closure. That coupled with some apparent medical issues Ed is having did the site in. It was fun while it lasted.

Ed is a good guy, I hope he gets some peace and rest. He didn't deserve what happened based on his posts there. I would believe Ed more than others. He always did right by me. He sent me a PM once and told me he understood why I might not want to post there but told me I was always welcome back. Good luck Ed and I will be praying for your daughter. Of course we all know that Ed won't see this. ;)

Nah, I always liked Ed. Since he opened the site back up for reading, I see where some of the problems were... some of the same problems that were here, before they got banned. Maybe he should've been more strict, but once again... how then would his site differentiate from TB??

yeah it's a lot more clear now that he has opened it back up. Too bad it won't last, I liked it. I mean I could never leave TalkBass, but BT247 was pretty cool too.
