Batman Begins

Why do you say that?

it was like the director fastened a camera onto the wrist of one of the goons who was going at it with batman!

the first fight scene, in particular, is jarring. i'm not exaggerating, i HAD to look away from the screen to keep from getting motion sickness--and i'm not even prone to such.

the training scenes were an improvement, but when wayne donned the batman suit, it was back to vomit-land.

i'm sure the director intentionally did this, to make some sort of statement about the chaos of hand-to-hand combat, or who stealthy batman is. but i think it was the sole failure of the film.

and i thought the contrast between the scary oogey-boogey man scarecrow and the wussy dr. crane was pretty funny--and effective. it showed that his power was based in fear and not fortitude.

I just saw it - a definite thumbs up. Bale was pretty awesome as Batman, and it was a well put together movie. The Scarecrow was really cool too (though underused...someone else expressed dismay at how he was defeated, and I certainly agree).

The fight scenes, unfortunately, were not too good. I'm not a fan of how so many modern movies move the camera so close to the action that it is impossible to see what is happening. The jarring cuts during the sequences don't help things either. Yeah, things are moving fast, I get it...just back the camera up and let me figure it out for myself.

There weren't an awful lot of fight scenes though, and overall the movie was definitely very good. Can't wait for a sequel!

I won't ever watch any of the other Batman movies after this one. Even the first one. Batman Begins was that good. I liked the part where he was flying over the Narrows and the people who had been subjected to the hallucinagen saw his eyes and mouth glow. That was pre-tty frea-ky. Michael Caine was an awesome Alfred. Morgon Freeman is always great.

you know, i wonder how many batman sequels we're going to get, since the english language has only so many verbs.

after a while we'll get titles like:

batman...continues

and

batman...continues...again

and

batman...knits...?

i would have used "batman spelunkers," but that was essentially this one. :D

Too bad Batman's not a superhero. He's smart, really fit, a great fighter, and rich as sin, but there's nothing "super" about him.

Definitely looking forward to the movie, though!

Actually I think this is the really redeeming quality of Batman. He's not "super" in regards to having special powers. He's just an ordinary guy (with a ton of money) who decided to get off his duff and do something about the bad things happening in his city. He's sort of your "everyman" superhero. Just like Spiderman, one can really relate to him as a person, as opposed to Superman, who's just so separate from humanity that it's more difficult to empathize.

This was definitely the best of the Batman movies. It had parts I didn't like, particularly the handling of the fight scenes (was that a fist, or something that shouldn't be in a PG-13 movie? I can't tell...), but everything else was great. Especially when Bruce Wayne told off the richies at his birthday party. Too bad it was all to save their lives. *grins*

I've always like Bale...ever since his incredible performance as a child in Empire of the Sun.

i thought "Newsies" was his best. :p

but yea, great movie, tho Act 4 was a little too cartoony for me. and yea, like ducky mentioned waaaay too much into one movie.

still, this is the TRUE "noir" film of the summer that Sin City with its pre-pubescent dialogue can only wish it could be.
