BattleBots

I'm watching this season... [sigh]... but admit I'm not following as closely I was a few years ago. It's a collection of tweaks that's turned me off = all their different spin-off shows (ex. the bounty hunters show, the champions show)... the re-airings of previous shows right in front of the new episodes... all the new teams... the changing of the trophy. It's all too much tweaking and messing with the product I used to enjoy.

I have enjoyed the conversations with other team bosses during fights between two other teams = a fresh perspective. I also enjoy the graphics which show a team's upcoming schedule over the next few weeks = helpful.

Btw, does anyone else think it's weird that Chris and Kenny wear the same suits on every episode? I suppose it makes it easier if those guys should need to do on-camera bits for other shows = they don't have to change clothes. Regardless, it's weird. Imagine if Wheel of Fortune's Pat and Vanna wore the same thing every night. :D

Anyone watching the new season?

Man I used to love BattleBots back in the day. Mauler was my favorite, as was all the robots the Bronco guys had (miss those guys). Also of course Son of Whyachi, which was my favorite of the new seasons until he retired. I'm sticking with the Ewart's though, I hope Fusion or Hydra finally get a giant nut!

I like the Whyachi clan because they are still old school the way BattleBots used to be. Some of those teams rebuild their robot down to the frame after each fight and to me that just seems odd to me. Is it really about the best bot, or is about who has the most money and can rebuild their robot from the ground up the fastest? Back in the day you had one bot that had to last through the entire thing.

Something's wrong with my programming. The first round of the tournament seems to be missing.

Anyone else have this issue? Note the missing S7 E16.

Man I hope Hydra can win it all this year finally! Has one family had more awesome bots than the Ewerts?

Speaking of....Fusion is always fun to watch because you know what's coming! Reese Ewert should move over to the commentary desk. He would be so bad that it would be good!

I'm a very selective viewer in that I only watch the battle itself. I fast forward through everything else, then start watching when the lights flash to begin fighting.

If there's a clear winner, then I quit watching when the battle is over and fast forward to the beginning of the next battle.

Only if the fight appears to be close, will I take a moment to see whom the judges pick as the winner.

I can watch an hour episode in under 10 minutes that way and I don't have any interest at all in the "extra" stuff.

They kept it up for the whole season!

Spoilers below, just in case you haven't watched yet.

I finally watched the playoff shows. I was underwhelmed.

A few good fights but Huge was an enormous bore for me. Good entertaining robots were eliminated early in their matches - Witch Doctor, Hydra.

Ethan Kurtz was the perfect heel, and I was waiting for someone to crush and destroy his robot well after the match was done, but then he tested out.

Probably too much of a good thing. By the time the playoffs rolled around, I didn't care.
