Thanks PipeRain think am going to have to get a better adaptor but when v-amp didn't change the fcb1010 then started to worry but then again as the fcb is not found when connected to the adaptor and the pc , think its the adaptor. Will have to get the m-audio one its £26.99 on ebay.
Love the V-amp my Epiphone thunderbird pro iv turned up the other day and it sounds so good through it better than my mid 80's Kramer forum iv (had since new).

I originally tried two or three of those cheap USB interfaces and finally gave up on them and got an M-Audio. As soon as I plugged it in, everything connected just fine. I tried just about every piece of free editing software for the FCB1010 there is and found the the Link Removed was by far the best. Well worth the $20 or so it cost. I have my FCB setup in "Stompbox mode", the top five buttons turn on and off (From left to right) Tuner, Compressor, Stompbox Driver and Effects. The number 10 button isn;t assigned to anything at the moment. The A pedal controls wah and the B pedal controls volume. The 1- 5 pedals switch between patches 1 - 5 in each bank.

If you want I can send you the SYSEX file that will setup your FCB1010 the same way, or you can use it to build a setup that suits you better. Hope this helps and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have that I actually know the answers to.

Plan on using the fcb in bass vamp mode as setting patches up in order of the set list so just up one patch at a time.then can just move patches into order before each gig but need to edit fcb to set the switches for my compressor and tuner mute on some patches
But the sysex would be good to try. I use the fcb1010 editor v2.99 by Ed Dixon very simple to use as even I understand it lol

Today I successfully tried to manage the MIDI connection to my Windows 8.1 laptop. I bought a Roland UM-ONE interface cable, which drivers are updated for the most recent versions of Windows, it installed at first try and the V-Amp Design software works just as fine. And yes, it is SO much easier to create patches this way :)

I think the problems are the cheep adaptors aren't opto isolated so cause the problems. I learnt the hard way. But is so easy adjusting in real time with laptop sat next to me saves lots of button pushing and messing around try the first part of this thread with charlies tips in well worth the effort of trying them out.

Mine is still dead, despite trying to get help on the forums.

Seems like out of nearly 100 pages over 2 threads, i'm the only unlucky owner who's unit stopped powering up. The only tiny sign of life is the REAR button on the front lights up red when pushed in. But thats it.

TBH, this is looking more like its going to end up in the dumpster, since no one wants to tackle the unit and track the fault.

" Its a behringer - chuck it away and get another. You wont even get spares " kind of answers i get

magus did you test the voltages from the transformer? and reseat all the connections between boards? have a look for a second hand unit if no joy but if you check the voltages post back what they are and will test mine to give a benchmark to compare yours to. where are you in Uk ?could post to me and ill take a look for you am a maintenance engineer and know an electronics guy.

Hi Andy, the singer in our band has now taken the unit to have a look at it, but i dont hold my breath. He's not an engineer.

I did reseat all the things that could be reseated - new fuse too, just in case, and new cell battery, just in case. Neither sorted the power up problem

I never got to test the voltages my self as I couldnt get my multi meter working, and i'm no engineer either, so i'm not sure what i'm doing in this regard.

If i get no luck with the our singer ( he's returning the unit next thursday at our next rehreasal ) i'll be in touch.

Thanks for the kind offer - i'm in West Oxfordshire. If our singer gets as far as checking the voltages, and tells me what they are, i'll post them for you, or PM you.

magus its why were here to help each other i'm in kent and a vamps quite light so easy to post will take a look if it comes to it but pm me with voltages if singer gets that far.am on here a couple of times a day so will always get back to you within 24 hrs. how old is the unit has the date code on the back mine is sept 2003 and still going strong just changed over to an I-nuke power amp its taken 20lb weight out of my rack.

Oh by the way - I had an old ART SGX Nightbass Pre/FX unit with the X-11 midi foot board, and the X-11 worked perfectly with the V-Amp. No messing - i just plugged in the DIN cable and off it went, didnt have to set anything up at all.

This is just for those having trouble with finding a foot controller that works straight off the bat

I've had my Bass V-Amp Pro since 2009, when I bought one from Craigslist. I'd get it all dialed in and then next time, the sound was awful. CR2032 in 5 minutes fixed that.

Well, now I have a more pressing issue. I accidentally broke the effects knob off of the thing while moving it from one rack space to a different rack space. the knobs pull off easily (except the master) and they reveal a plastic shaft underneath. The shaft was broken, not the knob itself. The shaft itself is kind of 'D' shaped so that there's a flat spot on the shaft, and the shaft itself is hollow. This allows adjustment of the effects using a small flat blade screwdriver inserted into the inside of the 'D' but I'd like to get this back in action, as my daughter is wanting to learn to play bass and I'm ready to get her a short-scale from Rondomusic. I probably should just use the editor software and set up a good bank of 5 presets and then be done with it. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had this issue of breaking one of the selector shafts like I have. I have a call in to the service center in my state, but I may have made the unit somewhat unusable. I will say that I quit using this live at our church, when the church bought a Zoom B3 - which has great presets, and it can connect via USB. There's a B2 unit also, with a volume pedal, which can be found used for $50. So, I'm not married to my Bass V-Amp Pro unit, if someone can help me fix the knob that's great.

I haven't done this on the VAMP, but one of my knobs on a Fender practice amp broke the same way and this is what I did.

BTW, this process could go wrong and totally mess up the knob so of course try at your own risk :)

I usedabout 1cm of a small finishing nail or tack and a drill bit the same diameter and some gel (just a drop) superglue to put the shaft back together. You have to be able to old the remaining portion of the shaft on the unit with needle nose pliers and very carefully drill into the center of the shaft (cordless VSR drill works best, need to be able to control the speed) about half the length of the finishing nail (0.5 cm for example) and do the same thing on the part of the shaft that came off in the knob. Apply a tiny drop of the glue to the finishing nail and insert into the shaft that's in the knob. Let it dry completely. Put an even smaller drop of glue on the other side of the nail and carefully put it into the hole you made in the shaft that's still in the unit. The key is to only get the glue in the hole and not on the outside of the shaft so that it will permanently glue the shaft in one position.

Did that on my amp about 5 years ago and it hasn't broke off or come loose. I hate that they use those plastic shaft pots on everything these days but probably keep the costs down...

I ave just stumbled upon this thread....

I am just looking at sorting out a twin neck bass/guitar for the Genesis tribute band I work with over in the UK

I am trying to find out if the Vamp pro can work as a single pre amp for the guitar / bass.

I know it can do guitar and bass, but I want it to operate live and send to two seperate direct outs to the desk.

I will only be using a single lead from the twin neck, so its only one signal coming in to the V amp.

A switch on the guitar will swap between the bass/guitar signal, and then the idea is that I then swap to the guitar patch on the pre amp, and the signal send swaps to the alternate out (XLR or Jack)

I want one patch for the bass
and one for the guitar, and have both patches sending the signals to separate outputs so that they can go to separate channels on the desk....

Any idea if this can be done just by swapping patches over via midi ?


So in essence:-

Patch 1 (Bass) outputs to the jacks
Patch 2 (Guitar) outputs to the XLR

or any variation just so that I can have two separate isolated sends
