Ok, there are still some places doing it for a reasonable price. Now I've not heard a Zoom B3 (or it's cheaper versions - MS60B or B1on) yet but at them moment the best synth bass I know of with the ability to store patches outside the Korg G5 (which I sold ages ago) is the Bass V-amp. Granted, I haven't tried the Mark Bass. The ME6B had some good sounds, but tricky tracking.

The Bass V-AMP had a long, great product life, and during that time consumer demand for rack gear declined greatly. These days, manufacturers simply cannot afford to produce what no longer sells as well.

What I will not sweep under the rug is what happens when manufacturers no longer care about bass players and neither create new and exciting products, nor any bass products for that matter.

As the original poster who started this mega-thread years ago, I highly-recommend a look at Zoom's current, amazing bass products for those in need of a change and who chase great tones.

I really like the B3 - much better than my V-Amp Pro. BTW, if anyone would like to buy my V-Amp Pro (with a snapped off knob), send me a PM. I would swap it for a B3 in a heartbeat. The B3 I use is at our church - makes for a great simple DI with very usable tones.

My problem with this the pedal trend is lack of midi control.
I also finally got away from stage clutter and am not going back yet.

I'll probably end up picking up a used Line 6 Pod X3 Pro for my practice rig, just for something different to play with. The V-Amp in that rig has some issues.

For my main rig, I have an alternate scheme where I'm thinking about using a SansAmp PSA-1.1 and a rack eq. Both programmable with midi.
I'll still split the signal for different eq settings for the amp and FOH signal to get them to sound as much the same as possible.

I was going to redo both rigs anyway.

Now I'm way off topic, so I'm done.

I still haven't tried the B3. I might get a B1on as a trial of the sounds as it's no more than an MS-60B at a bit more convenient for live use. My main issue is can it do punchy synth sounds like the Behringer?

Yes, it would be nice to be able to control this via MIDI. I have a B9 which works well for that.

I've got two V-Amp Pros, and 3 of the MIDI pedal boards. I recently purchased a B3 for $145 off eBay. I doubt very much if you will find someone who will swap a V-Amp Pro (currently going for around $50, even if the knob isn't snapped off) for a B3. However, I'm not getting rid of my V-Amps, either. They will still have a place in my sound kit, and I'll probably be putting some effort into making the B3 easier to control with some foot switches and other mods. It's got some very good sounds, and I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what it will do. But it's not as easy (for me) to control as the V-Amp Pro with MIDI.

I'm looking for a real simple instruction to Bi-Amp.
I reckon about 60% Bass to 4x10,& 40% Treble to 2x8.
Not sure how to set or save it in a patch.

So I broke out my backup rig, the V-Amp Pro and QSC RMX 850 last week so I could get my main rig serviced and keep swimming...Houston, we have a problem.

No matter how I configure the V-Amp or the poweramp the output of the V-Amp sends a constant distorted hiss and volume cuts in and out. It's not the QSC. We "kind of" narrowed it down to the main volume circuit, and the V-Amp is pretty much rendered useless...My question is, having purchased the pre in 2003 for $199, is it even going to be worth taking it in to a tech? If it's an IC circuit I assume there ain't much my local guy would be able to do, if modular it's a maybe, but what price point for repair even makes it worth it? Maybe better to sell it for parts and knobs and pick up a new pre...

Isn't there a mode where the main volume knob is bypassed? I'm almost thinking there is a setup where it is...

Have you tried the factory reset? It might be worthwhile replacing the battery too.

Ordering one of these from Sweetwater or AMS this coming weekend to replace my GK Backline 600 that has scratchy pots that need cleaned every few weeks. Going to run it with a Behringer iNuke3000. Gonna be all Behringer-ed out.

As of now I can't say I'm a huge fan of the thing. I did need a new preamp so I'm not at all upset that it only cost me $179 but the effects and presets are absolutely horrible and it's immensely over-complicated and counter-intuitive.

Don't give up yet. there is a lot of very good and important info on how to set up and use the V-Amp pro in this and the previous thread. PM me if you want some files with tips and tricks on how to get the best out of it.
