Anyone have one?

I think I'm gonna order one next week. Just wanted to hear if anyone else has one and what they think of it.

Unless you found something to be really wrong with these amps, please refrain from bashing behringer because I have no interest in hearing it. I happen to like their stuff. It's affordable for me and I have owned the BX4500 and it was nice for the money. So I'm only interested in honest experience-based opinions with the BVT series.

I have been looking for a head to pair with my Ampeg SVT410HE. I started a thread looking for suggestions and my first choice was the Traynor 200 watt tube head. I have a Traynor on the way, but I really wanted to check out this Behringer BVT5500 so I bought one from americanmusical.com and it arrived today. I must say, for the money ($399) it is not bad, and it matches the Ampeg cab perfectly. After about 20 minutes of messing with the EQ and voicing and the overdrive, I finally got a decent tone. I found that the overdrive would increase the volume but seemed to thin out the sound if that makes sense. I would really like to put this next to the Ampeg SVT450 and see how similar they are sound wise. I will have the Traynor head on Wednesday and I look forward to comparing the two, but my gut tells me the Traynor will win out. I could live with the Behringer though, not a bad deal for $399, I was pleasantly surprised.

I used the Behringer last night in a band situation and it performed very well. I have heard all the negatives (about Berhinger products) and I wanted to try it out for myself. The Traynor is a great head, it just doesn't work for my situation. I haven't had much luck with Bass Tube amps in general. I found that the Behringer had more definition and a deeper clearer sound. I think I am more of a solid state kinda guy based on my tube experiences. My band is a three piece bass, drums, & guitar and this Behringer sounds great for our style of Rock. All in all I would give the Behringer a shot if you are looking for a cool vintage (ampeg) look but do not want to shell out the $$$. I would still like to compare this head with the Ampeg SVT450 head. I honestly thought the Traynor was going to win out over the Behringer, but I really prefer the BVT sound, maybe I got lucky and got one of the good ones;).

We just picked up one of these amps and a Sovtek/Mercury Cab and it sounds great.

There is a lot of negative comments that are directed at Uli's company (behringer) but for value nothing beats their products.

Most patrons at a gig would not have a clue to the gear you use and as long as it sounds good they do not care. Save your $$ and buy for value and reliability. Valve / Tube amps are for the self absorbed.
