Believe it or not, I finally bought a Bacchus!

I've only been talking about it for five years or so, just didn't like the idea of having one shipped from Japan and spending another $150 or so, not to mention dealing with customs.
I've seen a few nice ones from time to time here in the states, but never one this nice!
Bacchus WL4-FM Custom III Ash Flame Maple Jazz MIJ.

Now for the waiting game.
UPS, supposedly they've stepped up their game as of late. Hey, if I get it by next Friday I'll consider it fast enough.

These guys can't be beat when it comes to finishes and their Japanese-made basses are supposedly top-notch quality.

I like the turbo-boost option...puts both pickups in series for a thicker humbucker sound.

I've always kept an eye on Bacchus, mainly because they're not too expensive and do some crazy finishes. I just wish they'd do all that for the P-bass shape, because 95% of their offerings are jazz basses.
I hate offset bodies. But Japan has a massive hard-on for jazz basses.

But anyway back to the bass itself, why richlite isn't used more? Well, I hear that people say that it doesn't produce as good of a sound as actual wood fretboards (though I'm convinced they couldn't tell the difference). That and richlite has the stigma of being just plastic, and no one really wants a plastic fretboard.

BACCHUS is another of those great MIJ basses we rarely see on this side of the Pacific, unfortunately. One of the brands of Deviser Co., obviously very derivative of Fender designs. I often think these days, when EVERYBODY and his uncle makes some sort of Fender clone, the Japanese axes like this would not be under the 'lawsuit' pressure they once faced, but who knows?

Sounds good in the video, Elixir Nanoweb strings, but they're coming off the day the bass arrives.
I'm sure flats or tapewounds will sound better.

I know what you mean. I bought a G&L L2000 in August and an Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro two weeks ago.
I didn't have the cash for this, but...

Looks great, can't wait to hear how it is in person.

As for the fretboard ... Does Zon use something similar? Phenowood, is what it's called, I think. Looks and sounds great, the finger board on my fretless Zon is amazing!
