I can't answer the tone question, but both of these cabs would = a 2.67 ohm impedance, probably not a good idea for the 9.0 4 ohm min impedance rating

Exactly my thoughts...or even an M6 should be able to do it. I love my M6.
all this talk just makes me want to try the "bigger and better" heads with my AE410, but the LMII is plenty loud for me so far and really just sounds plain good with little effort or tweaking....
I will at some point shop around again, like who don't right....most of us that say we're happy with our gear seem to at the least be peeking at other gear and pondering the "what if" and "what about" that.........and.....
if anything, maybe I would dig a bit more depth, punch and authority......but still maintaining plenty of focus....
.....then there's the little tweaks and time spent with gear that puts gear change out of mind.....temporarily
see what you all started ...again.......

I am trying to ward off the GAS attacks myself. As a side note...you may want to look at the Markbass F1/F500. It will give you punch you are looking for. On the used market they are abou the same as an LMII. You could probably trade someone

I will check them out.....I'm not really so much about warmth, but more about thick, meaty, muscular, punch
lots of focus, but big focus...if that makes any sense

If that is your tone goal (as is mine) the F1 /F500 should get you there as quickly as anything else. It's punch city.
There's also the Markbass SD1200 and the EA iAmp Pro (the Pro can handle a 2ohm load).

Oops. Forgot that the AE212 was 4 ohm. :scowl: In that case, two amps is pretty much mandatory to equalize volume, I guess. Would love to hear that 2 x STL 9.0/AE210/AE212 rig.
Umm, no it isn't. There are several amps out there that can run at 2 ohms. I don't understand the point of running two small amps. Doesn't that defeat the point of it being small in the first place? Give me a classic A/B class Hybrid in a two rack space any day.
Exactly what I was thinking. Wouldn't a Mesa M9 kill these at 2 ohms on sound and price. Amp would be slightly heavier but is single amp versus 2 of them.
Probably so. The other side of it. The Shuttle is a single small and light amp for the gigs where you don't need as much horsepower.
. I see both sides of it. Or, just buy a Shuttle 9 and M9!

To me, my Mesa M6 just has a "weight" to the tone that cannot be replicated by digital amps. Not trying to derail the thread, just my honest opinion.

Shouldn't be a problem unless you have a Smart car. Even that'll work with bungee cords

Personally, the "Tim Allen" in me is dying to hear an M9 run through an AE212 along with an AE410. That would be an absolutely MASSIVE rig, and relatively easily transported as well.
Some day I'm going to talk Jerry J into getting one of these and doing just that.

That's what I am playing (F500 + AE212) and I'm very happy with it; it's punchy and yet has the AE smoothness, which gives it a bit of warmth. Just set flat the F500 sounds great, though I roll off a tad of the high end with the vintage filter, but not much else. I am sure the Shuttles would sound great as well.
My point was that one of the cabs would be louder than the other, if one was a 4 ohm cab and one was an 8 ohm, correct? If so, then two amps would even out the volume problem.
I realize there are lots of amps that run at 2 ohms (both of my Genz Benz heads do), but the total loading was not the issue I was addressing. And, if I thought I could get the same sound I'd sure as heck rather carry around two 5 lb. heads in a bag, than 50lbs. of GBE1200 and wooden sleeve.
I do agree that two heads and/or cabs is defeating the purpose if one is trying to find a simple and portable solution. I would still love to hear that double amp/double cab rig though.
