Practically speaking, three is normally the maximum I've contemplated using on one gig anyway, although "which three particular basses" can and does change.

Eg for the Steely Dan project I lead it's mostly my '74 PBass with one or two tunes done on either my Reimer or my FBass (damn you Donald Fagen and your vocal-range-driven key change on Josie!); for something like Gabriel Palatchi or for my jazz quartet it might be my Reimer and my UBass with one or two tunes on the FBass. Soon it'll be "any two of these plus a fretless". Realistically I'd prefer 6 presets so I can have a named preset stored for each one, but I'll start by attacking the "show must go on" needs first and worry about luxuries next.

Does anyone know if the power amp only of the B|Amp can be accessed?

I would like to use just the power amp to test some external preamps but it seems the B|Amp EQ is after the effect return and so cannot be defeated. (I have set the B|Amp EQ to '0' but i don't expect that to be flat).

Thanks for any insights.

If you set the profile to "None" and don't engage the compressor or effects it will be flat. You may also want to turn the VHPF to off.

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of selling my Aguilar DB751 to fund a used Bamp purchase down under.

Since the manual only goes to V4 I was wondering what has been added?
Also is it as transparent as everyone says? I REALLY like the idea that I can dial in different amp tones for different gigs and preset them, while having a 'dry' option for at home pure practice

I don't have one but I've played through them several times, and I personally love the sonics; I am also hearing rave reviews for the sound quality from colleagues who've bought them. I tend to get a nasty itchy rash every time I hear the words "digital preamp" and need to take antihistamines immediately (my preferred tone's always going to be "great bass into a great amp through a decent cable" and everything "digital" I've ever bought - and I've bought a lot, Zoom, Line6 etc - tends to wind up on Craigslist eventually), but the Berg feels to me to be in an entirely different league. It's just a great amp.

Just get it. :) I used mine tonight with an EA NL210 in a tough room for rehearsal.I had lots of trouble last week with the sound in the room so I recalled your EQ tutorial and moved the speaker and lo and behold...tonal bliss. EQ was set flat and I was able to get sounds out of the amp that I've never been able to. It is not a wimpy Class D amp. I've used it on a small outdoor reggae gig with an HT112ER. The singer kept looking back at the setup wondering how I was able to get such a massive sound from such a small setup, lol. I'm happy with it and have only touched the surface of its capabilities.

It's helpful in laying out a more formulaic approach to fixing a room than just knob twiddling. I moved my cab, where I stood slightly and engaged the B-Amp's feedback filter to help my sound. Just moving myself a foot or two helped me hear all the instruments as a combined whole, rather than 3 separate parts fighting for ear space.

Question on B Amp thermal management.

Occasionally the cooling fan in the b|amp will be on when I need to turn the amp off. I usually leave it on until the fan switches off so the amp can cool down under its own control. The thinking being that if it is turned off while the fan is running, something is still too hot and the excess heat will dissipate in an uncontrolled manner.

Does anyone know if this is a good/necessary practice or am I worrying needlessly?

Hi Neil, are you running the amp in 4/8 ohm, 2.67 or 2 ohm mode?

If you're in 2 ohm mode, the fan will always run regardless of temperature to ensure it stays operational.

If you're not in 2 ohm mode, you can shut down even if the fan is still running. The Bergantino amps (all 3) have built in safe guard margins and generally, very cool running units. The heat will dissipate very quickly when shut off.
