It's not about processor power. It's about what we want the amp to be. Things like chorus, reverb, delay, etc are more what I would call special effects which are more personal and specialized, and there's certainly a plethora of pedals on the market to back that up. Our goal with the extended features of the B|Amp was to give you the tools to dial in various tones that are more analogous to amp qualities and characteristics than special effects. Another important aspect I never lose sight of as we add features to the amp is the User Interface and experience. And these special effects are better suited as an add on pedal, IMO, than an added feature to the amp. The features already in this amp offer tremendous value and could easily take a large rack of separates to replicate and still not get you "there".

Oh hell; that's just what we need; another pragmatic amp builder. Jim, I thought you said you were Italian?;)

Besides; I KNOW you will get around to that chorus. Because:
a) you will get bored with simply making the best amp out there; and
b) you can (it's existential)

Picked up a B|Amp Tuesday evening from Bergantino's dealer in Montreal. Didn't have much time to get around it for reasons I won't go into.

Quick question though:

I believe that I've read the user manual properly but, there's something I just can't figure out. The Filter knob green LED is always on.

Can someone tell me why it does so?

The factory default for the VHPF is 40hz which means it's engaged and the led is lit. If you push and release the bass knob you'll get to the filter screen. In this screen turn the bass knob CCW until the filter shuts off and the led will no longer be lit.

So is there going to be any way for customers to create custom interactions via bluetooth? (Say, for example, if one wanted to write an Android app to store / edit profiles on their phone...) And will the bluetooth connection support real-time parameter changes (not just switching memories)?

My wife might be happier if the answers were no... (although come to think about, she never complained about my Bergantino cabinets - well, other than occasionally playing a bit loud )

hmm, not quite sure how to interpret that... does that mean no bluetooth / USB API and no real-time parameter changes (being able to tie something like a remote volume pedal to various parameters would be really nice) ?

Well, mostly. However I find that while both cases tend to be rare, there's a much higher chance of being unhappy while she's happy than being happy when she's not...

The pedal will be for switching in and out the tonal scenes stored in Mem 1 and Mem 2. Apps are certainly doable but not in the immediate plans.

I agree with this vision of what an amp should deliver so much that it almost hurts!

I am now seriously considering contacting the German distributor about relaying that recent price drop, even though I don't need another amp.

Anyone running one of those into a power hungry fEARful at 8 Ohms? I am a bit worried whether the B|Amp can provide enough headroom (used to 1000 bridged watts into a 12/6)...

Hi Relwof,

I may not have done too good a job answering your question regarding Apps. The B|AMP can, with the appropriate software, interface with Android and Apple apps. And we have talked about various ways in which we would approach this. However, as I eluded to in an earlier post, I don't want to lose sight of what the B|AMP is and what is was designed to do. Sure we could do some really cool stuff with an App, but I want to make sure it would be something beneficial and easy to understand and use, and not just add complexity to the amp just to say, "Look at the cool things we can do!" Currently our focus is on getting the Bluetooth pedal released, which is something I believe most B|Amp owners would rather see at this point in time. We will most likely revisit the Apps question at some point next year.

Hope this better explains it and thank you for inquiring. And LOL on your wife "analysis" ;-}
