Spot on. Ain't nothing wrong with liking another amp ... any make. Each to their own. But the B|Amp does it's myriad of functions amazingly well. That it's ever evolving is just icing !

Bergantino B/Amp at NAMM

After one day with it, updated to 4.4, I am very impressed with the O/D quality and blend ability. The parallel compressor is a new thing to me and that is taking some sorting. Getting the gain structure set properly is important, as the manual says, and that takes some tweaking back and forth with the bass, input, and drive settings on the effect/comp. But now that I have a good mental picture of the signal path, I'm good. The resolution of the built-in tuner is perhaps the only negative, but heck its in there.
My bass sounds very good through the amp. Its making me very happy with the sound quality of the instrument. Very solid fundamentals, clear overtones, and crisp attack.
Hey, I'm wondering, is the signal path all analog or is there some conversion to digital going on for the effects chains?

Actually, other than the instrument input and the speaker output, but signal path is pretty much all digital.
Am I the only one that sets my Low/Hi Mid at a different point for active basses vs. passive basses?

I use 0 0 0 0 for both.
I rarely take notice. It sounds great every time I plug in... so. . Only a small tweak here n there and I'm up n running.

I think there was a misunderstanding. Lol
An exam would be setting the low at 40Hz vs 80Hz. 40Hz is a deep hard hitting bass bump. 80hz gives you a more smooth bass.
Deeper than that, active basses require different EQ frequencies IMHO than passive instruments. As a result, I have low/High mid frequencies set to accentuate the puckups.

I can't believe it. I've been gigging with the same B|Amp and HDN-410 setup since they both were available to the public. Basses come and go but for me to stay on the same rig is unprecedented. My tone settings are 0 0 0 0.
Though I do use in-ears to keep my stage volume down, my trusty rig is still there with me reproducing my tone faithfully.
I'm getting ready to upgrade to firmware 4.4. I'm looking fro some suggestions/examples of the parallel compression settings.

Start with both comp and gain set at 7, adjust to taste. This is Jim's advice, and works well.

Where abouts are fellow B|Amp users setting the HPF in general and if there's baboomy probs?
I'm a total noob when it comes to these, I sure unnastan frequency etc, but wouldn't mind a bit of guidance in this matter.

If I was after the "vibe" of a sealed type cab, such as an 810E for example, set it a li'l higher?
Hey Rod, if you're after a sealed cab vibe try this. Set your HPF at about 40 hz. Set your bass EQ center on your B|Amp to 100 hz with a wide Q (default). Boost a little to taste in that area.
810's, as im sure you know, don't have much true, deep low but they produce prodigious amounts in the 100 hz punch zone.
Interesting that you mention a different frequency for the 4 vs 5 string. I thought the HPF (in bass applications) was to protect the speakers and preserve amp headroom - both of which relate to the amp/speakers (not the bass guitar).
Can you explain further?
