One really cool thing about an HPF that a lot of players don't realize is how much more effective your bass knob (and corresponding frequency) becomes. Since most bass controls are shelf style, by running the HPF up to, for this example we'll say 60 hz. Let's say your bass center frequency is 65 hz, it really let's you hear and feel 65 rather than it towing along a lot of other frequencies you "may" not want due to the shelf and no HPF set up that "high".

Of course, with the uber adjustability of the B Amp you can really fine tune exactly the bass response you desire. That amp is the ultimate tone shaper.

Using the filter somehow cleans up the muddy flabby lows, yet still allows the pitch of the note to come through. I've found it really useful when i have played in small venues and my normal flat setting still overwhelms the room, ie too bassy and indistinct. Hope this helps...

I have no idea what the VHPF does. As much as I read it, it doesn't click with me.

That's exactly right. Extremely useful in varying room scenarios. A great way to clean up muddy sonic woof without completely losing your, and your bands low end by trimming the bass knob.

You're correct, there's a lot of magic going on with the last upgrade. Jim has spent countless hours sweating the most seemingly minute details. This all has summed up to the best upgrade yet, IMO. This amp just never goes out of style and it's flat awesome.

B|Amp HG410 performed beautifully, again.
Agreed re the 5.0 firmware upgrade. Having the lpf set, I think, at 5k and last night, I set the hpf at 50hz. Just made a punchy yet still deep solid floor, and I wasn't going thru the FOH PA. Great stuff!

Feature request! (Actually just an out loud thought) Would it be possible or feasible for the B|Amp to add a crossover function which could allow various mixed speaker combinations to perform better? I currently am using an HT112ER and have the option to ship to me either another HT112ER or HT115. I have a reggae gig coming up so I was thinking the 115 would allow a little extra oomph but mixing the two might not be the best idea. SO...how about a crossover to send a bit more lower to the 15 the the 12... Any thoughts? Is there even that much difference between these two speakers to warrant the idea? Any insight is much appreciated. Thank you!

Not possible, that would require 2 separate power amps. Go with the 2 Ht112ER's.

The new fuzz is just fun, fun FUN. Again, the focus was a natural sounding fuzz. It can do vintage (think "Spirit in the Sky") all the way to razor sharp, modern clang. It all depends on how you EQ it. It takes EQ very well IMO and as with any fuzz, very dependent on how you set your mids

Though I've dug deep into the OD and Dist circuits, I'm not all that familiar with fuzz effects. Given that I often find myself getting get lost for days in all the adjustability within the B-Amp (in a good way!), I'm wondering what you're using as starting points for various sounds. Thanks!

I'd be more than happy to but if you can give me a day or so. I have a few now....one very vintage sounding, one extremely gainy and another that rip snorts. I'll dive in and copy my settings down and report back.

Just wanted to let you all know a new version of the firmware, 5.10(B) was just sent out. I would like to recommend you try the none blend version first. I believe the effects have become so natural and "real" sounding, that the blending of the clean signal actually takes away from it. But I'll leave it for all of you to judge. Also, if you like the non blend version you have an added benefit of getting the Aux volume knob back!

They've been typically anywhere from 50/50 to 60/40 depending on the version. This latest one has no blend on the 5.10 version (100% effect). I think it sounds best this way, but if you prefer to use the blend version, that's fine too.

Ok peeps....I'm considering parting ways with the monique/ip train due to wanting a lighter cab. The ip stays.....

I know the B|amp is a different beast. I've played one briefly a couple of times and loved it. I dont think the B|amp would add anything to the cab due to the cab already having dsp....if I understand this correctly. I'm think of going with either an hg410 or hd212. Which of these do you guys think would get me closest to the ip322?

I would think it would be a Ref112 + Ref210.
