Jim, I'm not sure I understand your question. You can bring another source into the amp, pre DSP via the effects return jack and also take a line out, post master volume through the line out jack on the back (if selected in program mode). This line out, btw, does not include the profile filters which are dedicated for the speaker system connected to the B|AMP's speaker out. I'm not sure what you mean by "can the speaker be independently driven?" Please clarify and I will be happy to respond.

I use it several times per week with an Accugroove Tri 112, and with a Sadowsky 410 using the normal settings, and it sounds fantastic. The fact that it has a special capability with Bergantino cabinets in no way affects how good it sounds with cabinets of other provenance. With the cab you mentioned, you might want to give it a try with the HDN 112 setting (since that's also a neo 12) just to see how it sounds, but I can assure you it will be fine with the general selection.

You could use with great results the HD410 profile for the SA410.

This is exactly the question I was going to ask, as having footswitchable commands (eg: swap to specific memory slots, and now the "distortion on/off" future feature) is probably the one thing I could "fault" with the amp.
And it's not even a fault, as I've never felt the need to use the memory options for switching a tone mid song! (and I have an EQ pedal on my board for swapping to a slap tone).

If Jim was to make the various bits and bobs midi switchable in the future....this amp will slay.

I have also been able to play around with this circuit a bit, and I think that it is a very promising development. Definitely looking forward to Jim's next iteration of this option. Any way you stack it, it will provide additional utility to an already fantastic amp, and it should satisfy the needs of players who previously found the B|Amp to be "too clean."

And I like the iPad/iPhone app option! :thumbsup:

Me, too.

I'm using my iPad with ForScore right now for set lists and cheat sheets, and to have the ability to control the amp at the same time, well, that would be pretty darn cool.

Sorry for the confusion. I was wondering if an external amplifier can directly drive the speaker if the internal B|AMP is (heaven forfend) not operable?

Hey Jim, I'm still a little confused. You do know that the B|Amp is not internal to any speakers, yes? It's a normal outboard amplifier.

There's no such thing as an "internal B|Amp."

Nope, I didn't know that—thanks! I thought the B|Amp was internal to the cabinet. Arrived at this thread without having seen or heard the details. Will do a search. Sorry for the derail!

I think you have it confused with the older IP designs, and your questions and concerns would have applied. Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions regarding the B|AMP and its features. You can also download the owners manual from our website which is very informative.

Very Cool. This distortion/overdrive feature might push me over the edge on picking up a B-amp. I've been eyeballing the B-amp along with other new-ish offerings like the Subway D-800 and the Magellan for a while. I recently picked up a HDN 212 and the Berg amp would kill with it. It's great to have so many choices of great sounding lightweight amps these days.
I feel like I waffle back and forth between thinking I want an uber clean thick amp and wanting something with more wool to it. I love the clean thing solo, and my bass sounds great direct to the board, but it seems I always end up missing the slightly overdriven tube thing when used live. Definitely not heavy distortion, but just some warm color. I do need the clean thing for when I have DB gigs. An amp that could do both with authority with no outboard gear required would be a stand out for sure. Looking forward to hearing some examples of the tones available with the distortion and/or overdrive features.
Currently using a Tonehammer 350 and a Acoustic Image Clarus for live work. They both sound great, but I'd love to have an amp that could tie my clean and dirty worlds together...:bassist:

More coolness!!

For controls, howzabout a Bluetooth interface that would allow either a Bluetooth foot switch or an app on the iPhone for us girls? That way, the player could choose. I can easily see why some players would want to switch things up on the fly with a foot switch. OTOH, I don't tend to change tones mid-song, and would be perfectly happy with the phone app.

Footswitchable Drive would be great. Bluetooth footswitch even better!
I use drive- ranging from the tiniest amount thru to close to distortion and so this feature would be a big boost in me thinking about this amp.
I've used Berg gear for 10yrs and have never been disappointed in it!
I use footswitchable overdrive in my Super Bassman amp and my other 2 amps - V4B & TH500 I can dial it in so I can control it with my fingers/playing technique. .... So if it was as touch sensitive as both those amps and even better. .. Bluetooth footswitch. That's a win in my book.

Jim sent me a copy of the latest firmware, well, two versione, one yesterday and one today. This last one has a bit less drive, but it has a bit more details in the lower midrange...I think it would be perfect with any of the NV cabs where the stock fw is a bit too pristine to my ears.
