Bergantino NV158? ???

No attenuator would be a probably be a problem for me.

I thought it could be a problem for me too, but I think Bergantino must have a real good reason for not including that feature. They must of at least tried the attenuator, and rejected it based on performance. On a long shot I'd guess that attenuating the mid driver would create some weird phase issues with the sealed design 15".

That seems to make sense. Plus, why not just roll back the tone control on your bass or use EQ on the head? I guess different strokes for different folks, but I played one this week and it was great with my P-bass.

But IIRC, there was an attenuator on the NV215. I prefer lots of low mids and not so much high mids.

I'll confess I don't hear any dip in the low mids.

I have however learned to take down the treble knob just a little some times. Especially with clean old school trios where cutting articulation is never a issue.

I have the 2 prototype NV-115 cabs.. The 1st one is the same as the production model that came out and the 2nd has the same speaker as the NV-215 cab and it has an attenuator.. The 2nd cab maybe has a more mid presence, but I found that I didn't need the attenuator at all.. The production cab just has an overall full range presence and when I need alittle more something, I can adjust it on my amp or bass... Less things for me to fiddle with... :bassist:

Probably not the cab for you in that case IMHO.

I like the NV115, but the NV610 is still my favorite because it has more low mid and less high mid, relatively speaking. Of course the NV610 is too much cab for some.

I've been a Bergie fan for over a decade. I have two of the older 1X12's and an NV 425. Three tens and one 15. Hardly ever use the NV. Just do not have the situation that would require it. But on the few times I've played a huge outdoor gig I sure am glad I have it. However, I'm Bergied out and am now using the GK NEO's. One 1X12 and One 2X12. I actually favor the less high end clean sound I get from the GK. Don't worry. That'll probably change in a year or two. Ear fatigue is a strange phenomena. Just sold my one year old Bergie 4X10. All cabs mentioned have ceramic speakers. Real heavy at times.

Having said that, I tried the new Bergie 1X15 (with a 6 inch speaker) the other day and WOW!. It was THE best 1X15 I have ever played. A brand new sound. Not like any other Bergie. Easy to carry even though it is a ceramic speaker cab. Never heard this kind of definition in a 15 cab. None have ever had that six inch speaker either. This is a must have. It really is.

Here's the pic I promised from rehearsal the other week. Despite being asymmetrically aligned :p the NV115/HS210 rig kicked butt. It sounded predominantly like the NV115, likely because that cab was on top.

Reminder: this was with my stoopid loud rock band who even rehearse too loud. A single NV115 should be plenty for my Motown band.

In the rack: SWR Interstellar Overdrive tube preamp, Reiner Amplification tube preamp, Stewart World 2.1 power amp.

Nice! How does it work and sound with the upright?

It's great! Very woody, if that means anything. And the "aggressiveness" inherent to 15" speakers works well with getting some character out of a piezo pickup (which are the pretty commonly used to amplify AUB's).

I found myself wanting to angle it up a bit off the floor last night, but in general it's just a killer standalone bass cabinet. Running two would be the BOMB.
