Bergantino NV158? ???

This cabinet is so good that it has me seriously considering selling my NV215 and getting a second NV115! It seems to have way more punch in the lower mids, but I am not sure whether that is because I could drive the amp more with just a single fifteen. I would dearly love to hear a comparison between two stacked NV115s and an NV215. I suppose I also need to play the NV215 next time with the attenuator dimed to get closer to the 115(I normally set it halfway or less) :hmm:

If you can swing it, I think a pair of the NV115's will crush the NV215. The woofers seem a lot beefier and the mid/crossover is a lot more balanced/even sounding.

Very happy with my "mini-stack" of 2x10 and 15-6. That's a lot of speaker area for not much space or weight.

But getting my head around how 2 15s and 2 6s would sound as a stack--there is no way it would not sound good.

I owned an HT112 for a while. Personally I wouldn't contemplate putting the two together, the 115 has way more bark and punch and I can't see any real advantage in matching them(other than perhaps to present a 4 ohm load to a solid state amplifier). IMO the HT112 was quite polite in comparison. The obvious pairing is with another NV115.

I get punch. Bark? Not so much.

I wonder how one of these would sound paired with a HT112? Any ideas?

I unloaded my HT112ER cabs before buying the NV115. That said, at larger/louder gigs I run my NV115 on top of an HS210. That stack gives me a lot more volume, and because the NV115 is on top I hear it and not the HS210.

An HT112+NV115 stack would certainly push more air than either cab soloed, however I'm not sure it would look right to sit the NV115 on top of an HT112. Point being, if you put the 112 on top you might hear it more than the 115. I agree with Tim1: the HT112 is a nice cab, but has a neutral sound. I much prefer the NV vibe to any ported/tweetered cab, and would want to hear that onstage.

The NV115 is taller than the HT112 so maybe you'd hear enough of it even if the 112 were on top... perhaps Tom B can chime in, he's tried everything. :p

I had a gig Friday that was on a street corner. Vocals only in the PA. A friend was selling his Greenboy Bassic12 so I picked it up. Put it on top of the 115. It's not ideal but every inch of speaker helped. Powered with a TH500. Sounded pretty good.

The 12 has a tweeter so it gave some more highs. I recently put some EMG's in a bass and I really like the treble on the bass.

I won't have too many occasions like that but another 115 would have been sweet.

That's what I'm wondering. It seems like the HT112 & NV115 will have different personalities, but how would it sound if I just need to put out more sheer volume?

The application is a 7 piece funk band...we play moderately loud and I'm trying to avoid taking a 410 cab everywhere. Can't decide between the NV115 or the CN212. I already own an AE410 and the previously mentioned HT112s (and a Bag End 115D). I'm thinking that the NV115 would be the perfect addition to the family and probably loud enough for most practices. (Bet, it might sound good with the Bag End too.)

The nv115 is certainly loud enough for a full band practice, unless you plan on competing with a cranked Marshall stack. It is the loudest single speaker cab I have ever played, l was surprised by the grunt this cab can put out. I still think you should bite the bullet and buy a second one, it would be totally delicious :).

At rehearsal, the guitarist in my rock band tends to crank his Mesa Rectifier 2x12 to the max, and the drummer hits his loud kit brutally hard.:scowl: In that environment my single NV115 seemed to reach its limit (turning up my amp didn't increase volume), but it hung in there well enough. I was impressed!

I'm pretty sure this why the founding fathers wrote the second amendment.:D Seriously, I don't know how anybody could be in that room. I hope you wear earplugs.

I did another gig in the same little 100 seat bar Saturday night, this time with the pop/dance band. Guitar/Vdrums/keys/vocals/sax were all in the PA. Everything but bass.

No trouble keeping up with the TH500 250watts at 8ohms. At one point somebody told the keyboard player the bass was overpowering the guitar. I had to turn him up in the PA. We were cranking (I thought) by the end of the evening with plenty of bass to spare.

Gratuitous shots of hot moms at gig:

I ALWAYS wear earplugs with that band. I had custom earplugs made when the guitarist used his 4x12. Now everything goes through the PA and the soundman somehow convinced him that a 2x12 is enough (thank goddess for that). So, ER-20s seem to be enough.

And thanks for the pics! ;)

I think I really need a NV15, then another.
A single NV115 is more than enough to keep up onstage with my "big band": guitar, drums, Hammond organ, and 5 piece horn section. I brought the extra cab because my 3-piece-plus-singer rock band plays WAY too loud.

But a pair of NV115s makes a killer rig, won't try to talk you out of it. :p

But it's a hot rig! ! :D

Do you have the Horn on the 210 off in this situation?
Thanks. :D The horn is mostly off, but not fully off. I've read conflicting reports about possible problems when fully attenuating a horn. But unless I'm kneeling down directly in front of the stack, I don't hear the HS210 or its horn. The stack gives me the additional headroom necessary for my stoopid loud rock band, but the overall tone is little different than the NV115 soloed.
