Bergantino NV212T

I'm listening back to some of last night's show, filmed from right in front of the stage, and I feel like there's something important to reiterate about this cabinet to people who would be reading this thread...

Maybe it's just 12s, which I am still newer to, but these speakers really disperse their sound beautifully at all angles and distances from them. So, at shows were some of the audience is standing so close to the stage that they're getting more amps and less house mix, they're going to hear this cabinet in a very complete and defined way that I've never heard a ported 310 or 410 capable of producing. Also, I can venture 15 to 20 feet away from the cabinet on stage, and while the character of the sound does change a little, I can still clearly hear it through the mix without any mud.

That's a really cool quality of this cabinet worth noting.

Nice! I’m far from an expert on these matters, but I’d wager the improved dispersion comes from the close-to-vertical alignment of the two speakers.

I played two outdoor shows on small stages this weekend with just the single nv212t, and it kicked ass! It actually survived a decent amount of rain hitting the back when a South Florida monsoon ended set 2 Friday.

But really, I keep saying it, and I’ll say it again. This cabinet’s dispersion and projection is just incredible. It sounded so even across the whole stage.

Also, I don’t see how you would ever need a high pass filter with this cab because it rolls out all the mud so well, and just pumps out usable frequencies that you actually want to hear.

Finally, when I was really listening to the cabinet at times last night, I thought Jim described it’s character so well on the website - creamy. That’s definitely it. Yes, it’s a mid-forward cab, but don’t let that scare you away because it is buttery as hell.

It’s very cool that I came to Jim with a real life problem (loved my Aguilar head, but it sounded way too boomy through many cabs), and he really knew what would pair up perfectly with the Aguilar to solve the problem. Amazing service.

Anyone ever tried an ampeg v4b with one of these cabs...? Thoughts?

Vibe-wise I would think it would be perfect. But, the cabinet is hungry for power, being sealed and 400 watts at 8 ohms. But, I know that 100 watts of all-tube power is pretty powerful, so I bet it would work great. You might want to try calling Jim and asking him though. He is pretty easy to reach and will really take the time to answer a question like this.

These babies sounded awesome last night! First time gigging both. Just tight creamy low mid punch, with an excellent roundness. I’ve actually been toning the tweeter down a lot and I’m finding there is still plenty of high end. Now I have GAS for a BAmp so I can get some more flexibility in tones! But again, the Aggie and these cabs are fast friends for life.

You sir, win.

Looking to add a single 12 to go with my Berg 212T to pull 4ohm load for louder gigs. Want to keep it in the Berg fam. Assuming the Reference 12 would be closest both in cab and in esthetic but would kind of like the light weight option of the HDN or even a used CN. Have seen a couple HD's on the cheap used as well. Anyone added a single 12 to theirs Berg or otherwise?

Why not a NV115? Or maybe Jim would make you a NV112? Do you really want to mix ported and sealed? I’d be worried about losing the secret sauce of the NV. Just speculation, I’ve not tried any of these combinations.

That's exactly my question. Have no idea how a ported would mix with it and wondering if anyone has tried a combination. Part of me thinks it could be a great mix and naturally the other part of me thinks it won't work. The 115 isn't what I'm looking for. Looking for a single 12 as a cabinet that I can easily take with me to smaller gigs and would pair well with the 212 for larger gigs and pulling a 4ohm load. Single NV112 would be an obvious choice for pairing with the 212 but not sure how it'd perform on it's own. Ultimately I wish the NV212 was a 4ohm cab. Already sent an email to Jim and just awaiting his response. Cheers!

I’ve seen a few add the Reference 112 to the HG310, it won’t hurt to give it a try.

Hi
I will try out a CN 112 and a CN210 with my NV 212 T and get back to you..
I have the 322 Neo and 212T ceramic as seperate systems, never tried combining.
Thanks Rob

Amazing! Look forward to the report back. Ultimately I'd love to pick up a CN or HDN 112 as a light weight stand alone for small/lower volume gigs and would be fantastic if it played well with the 212T. Cheers and thank you in advance.

I use an IP112 with a NV115 as my main rig. An HT112 with a NV115 at home, my favorite rig of all time.

I’ve asked about and discussed this exact subject sealed+ported several times. Even talked with Jim.

NV115 on top of HD112. Very good
Reversed also very good but can’t hear the 15 as well as expected but it is there to the room for sure. The ported cab on top is perceivably louder. Jim’s assessment basically.
Best all around match for these two cabs NV115 horizontal, HD112 on top tweeter down 50%.

I now have two NV115s and it is very good. My first stacking choice is both horizontal. 2nd bottom nv horizontal top nv vertical. (This works out well in certain rooms) 3rd both vertical my least favorite.

Both setups are good

Thanks for sharing that! I can imagine an engineer like Jim building (and tuning) sealed and ported cab lines/products that can complement each other, but in general sealed and ported cabs seem like they would be an especially risky pairing if buying without hearing them first.

Just to be clear Jim recommended using an additional sealed cab preferably the same which i did. He simply said if mixing cabs works for you that’s great. I had also asked him about a sealed 112. Basically too small for sealed design.
Yes agreed on the risk factor if you haven't tried them live etc. As far as my risk I had been using a pair of HD112 for several years and finally bought a single NV to use by itself which I’ve done with some degree of success. I sold one HD an got a second NV. Note: These are all non-neo drivers.
