You also have a good memory. I must say you made me very curious about whether I would like the Markbass LM II, so much so I that bought one. Your description of the tone was right on the money. I really love that little amp. So these days I split my time using both my 902 and the LMII. If I am playing with PA support, I tend to take the LM II, if not, the 902. However, the 902 has IMHO a better DI. MB are in the process of bringing to the market place a Super DI that can be retro fitted into all Markbass amps. They told me that it should hit the US markets by early summer. So, there you have it. I recently purchased the Berg HT112 er, and it is really impressive. I don"t think I am buying the AE410, I hardly use my UL 410 S2. So I think I am done on gear for a while. I was watching your clips and that Alleva was killing. It gave me GAS :-) The Sadowsky wasn't bad either. I don't agree with some of your opinions, but you bring some good stuff to the discussions and that is much appreciated.

It was brought to my attention a few months back that some fool was selling 2 HT115 cabs here on talk bass. I would have grabbed them but alas I was too late. I would imagine they're something of a rarity on the for sale boards seeing as how everyone I've talked to that has one or two shares my enthusiasm as well as satisfaction with them. Why they are no longer in production is puzzling to say the least.

Nice rigs! You know, the LMIII standard DI is actually very nice, since it has pre/post switches and a level control. But, the Epi DI is VERY nice!

Do 15's make good slap cabs? Reason I say is that may be the decline of 15 sales?

Everybody wants a Bass to be a drum (percussive.) That may well be the migration to 12's too?

I dunno, back when I bought my rig the 410/115 thing was "the bomb".

It could very well be availability of quality parts too. I'd bet that's a reason the IP line has stopped. Cost vs Profit vs Interest in product.

Who knows?

Personally, I can't slap to save my life but I've heard other players slap all night using these cabs, and yeah they slap real good...

The older HT's are not my thing, with all that upper mid and lower treble coming out of that big horn (and of course, they weigh a ton). However, interestingly, IMO and IME, the HT115 is the least 'scooped' of the older HT's (at least compared to the HT210 and the HT322... the HT310 was pretty punchy, but lacked in the deep low end IMO).

Driver size has nothing to do with generating a good, punchy slap tone. The older HT cabs result in a very modern type tone (very sizzly up top, very modern upper mids coming from that big horn, and deep, deep lows combined with a bit of a hole in the lower mids)... kind of like a built in 'contour/enhance' control. Again, not my thing, and I enjoy the more mid punchy and even tone of Jim's current offerings. However, the HT115's are pretty nice, and again, IMO the 'best' of the eary HT line of cabs.

I just matched up an older HT112 that i have with a new AE210...soooo freaking nice. i spent an afternoon at bassandbeyond in Reno and tried my older HT112 and matched/compared with the HS210 against the AE210. i play 6-string bass and this is like the the ultimate modular 322 rig for me, the older HT112 is even better than the (HT-AE)112ER IMO....it seems to be more focused and have a slight midrange natural compression to the voicing that naturally cuts better, rather than the more open, just "slightly" deeper ER cab (most gigs that low feq. just turns to rumble anyway). to my ears the older HT112 seems to tighten up and focus the the low B-string more than the ER. Couple this with the more in your face crisper AE210 vs. the HS210 (awesome with the high C string)...and i'm in 322 heaven, and so is my back. the versatility of this rig is really awesome as well, a lot more options than just "one" cab and i can break it down into different configurations whatever the gig calls for, but still have the 322 combo if needed. lightweight and powerful, i think i've found my ultimate speaker combo.

I still haven't gotten a chance to hear the new HT-112 ER cabinets but I too am a huge fan of the original HT-112 cabinets! When I heard that Jim changed the design I feared that they might migrate more toward a more open sound and loose that sweet midrange.
Lot's of great comments on this thread and others on how good the ER version sounds but I'm quite content with my original HT-112. As you say, their sweet midrange voicing just finds space in a live mix to cut through.

I just received the NV610 to replace the one that I bought for myself, and Jim was kind enough to throw in a REALLY nice cab cover for mine!! Holy smokes, I feel like I need a cover for my cover :)

I also got several sets of the plate casters! I'll try to have these on hand at all times, and they'll work with anyone's cabs...

ah ellllllll oouhmmmmmmmm huahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

I'm speechless!!!!!! I fired it up, everything is flat, brought up the tube channel pre gain and vol to 12 o'clock, same on master - done, that's perfect as far as I'm concerned :)

I think I'll have to get over how good that sounds before I can even begin to turn knobs and comment more. And this cab and the volume it's capable of, is not describable because no words anyone could of said to me would of prepared me for what I just heard. And that's utilizing a configuration that only produces minimal power output from the power amps.

Just an incredible spectrum of tone, tight punchy fat ass bottom, beautifully vocal highs, clear wonderfully voiced mids, holy smokes.... Yeah, giggling like a school girl - I get it!!!!

AND, the entire rig is no bigger or heavier than my little 100 watt Polytone I've been using. In fact, I was pretty shocked how small the cab actually is, it looks bigger in pictures and did I mention the SOUND ;) I'm searching for words again... there just ain't none....

Now that I see just how small and portable it is I think an additional Berg is def. in the near future....

I guess the only thing I'm curious about is how much of what is the cab vs. the head - I've no cross reference. Jerry, what's your take having run a GB into diff cabs?

And on a total side note: A pocket on the Berg cover would be a nice addition - The cover on my Polytone cab had a side pocket that was just the perfect size to throw a Real Book in... Totally trivial in the grand scheme but - just a thought....

Oh.... and... ummmm... did I mention how incredible this thing sounds? Still can't find the words but, I think I'm aroused..... :hiding:
