Best 200 Watt Amp

Oh, and did you know you can chain two 100’s together?

VERY budget friendly option, 2x12 Janky rig of doom right there!

If it really is 200 watts you're after, and you have access to traynor, the sb112 and sb115 combos are awesome. I bought the 112 because it was offered to me at a price I could not refuse, and It has never let me down volume-wise, even though it does not cooperate with an external cab.

Edit: I was surprised that the sb112 was plenty for a studio with a loud drummer and three guitars. Small room but loud music, and the little baby traynor raised eyebrows without breaking a sweat.

However, my vote would be for a 500 watt amp with however much cab you can afford. Never hurts to have more than you need these days with things being so light and small.

I'll echo the Traynor recommendations, if you're looking for a combo. Even though the SB112 and SB115 don't offer extension cab capabilities, they deliver the full wattage to their 4 Ohm speakers (unlike Fender Rumbles), and they put out a rather surprising amount of volume (and depth, but not at the expense of definition) in a light, compact package. In short, they're very hard to beat in their price range.

My MarkBass Little Mark 250 Black Line is a nice head that gets quite loud for 250 watts. I'd get a head like that or maybe an Ampeg PF350 or 500, and whatever used cabinet you can find a good deal on. Then you have the versatility that you don't get from a combo amp.

Mine as well. Got mine when Musician's Friend had it as the stupid deal of the day.

A 100 watt difference is negligible?

You have to remember that sound pressure levels (or think db's if easier) increase logarithmically; that is, as others have pointed out, 200w is NOT twice as loud as 100w in the same speaker cab and/or amp. On paper, it's a 3db boost, in the real world probably a pinch less. It's also the same gain (again, on paper) if you added a speaker cabinet identical to your Rumble 100, minus the built-in amp. Think of it this way: Every time you double the power (or add an identical extension) you gain 3db. The rough math will tell you how many times you'd roll up that doubling to literally be twice as loud. You'll need to call Showco or Clair Brothers. . . . . .

I'd advise like the others have: For a meaningful and noticeable increase in loudness, move up into the 500w range, easily do-able thee days.
