Best 212 cab?

really like my thunderchild 2x12 for both electric bass and upright 900w and pretty light I'd say. plus with the porting options that you get with all the Audiokinesis stuff, you get a cab that is WAY more versatile than most. the port thing is crazy. seriously it changes the dynamics so much so you can really dial in a room or help fix resonant problems. cant do that in others with just the cab alone. at least to my knowledge..and Duke is the man.

It's good to see some TC K212 and RS212 love in here as those are some really good cabs. I'll also add the GK NEO 212 as well.

212's have really come a long way since I started playing 50 years ago. The best one I ever had was a 212/tweeter , vertically aligned, featuring 3012HO drivers, with an 18Sound tweet/ JBL waveguide, made by Low Down Sound. Great sound but a little awkward to move for me. I have also had a Genz Benz 212 and a Genzler 212. Both pretty similar, but I'd give the nod to the Genzler. I really like the vertical alignment in a 212; I can definitely hear it better, but my first love was and is 15 cabs so that's where I'm at these days.

Roger Baer makes a killer 2x12 box. Just fantastic. I've used it at a very large outside venue. The soundman way out from the stage said it was hitting him in the chest. It also works at lower volume just as well.

Not sure about the carbon fiber, but a friend has one, i think he said it was right around $1000.

I would add Vanderkley to the mix. I have the 112mnt and it is plenty loud. Can’t imagine what the 212 would do. Also, Trickfish, Arnopol, Baer, Berg, DNA, Form Factor. Yah know the usual suspects. All seem great to me. Vanderkley Demo at beginning of this video.

I love my Mesa PowerHouse 2x12, however their Subway 2x12 is amazing and at a lighter weight.

As far as being the best, I don't know. I had a couple of GK Neo 2X12 cabs and really liked them.

If I was in the market for a commercially built cab (building my own cabs for many years) I think I would go for a GR 212 slim Aerotech series. They are carbon fiber cab. The 212 is only 26 lbs.

i love my tce rs212 but i just found out they have been discontinued.

yes they are still on there website. i was looking for a second rs212 but could not find them at any of the major online retailers so i emailed tce and they said it has been discontinue. they did not say if the whole rs line is discontinued or not.
to bad. it is a fantastic sounding cab.

Thats interesting, I've been following the K-Series , I thought they were keeping the RS

I have a TC Electronic K212. Sounds great with more than enough volume.

K212 from TC is amazing.

I believe the K-Series is being discontinued. Thomann stopped stocking the K212 in November, just as I went to order, and there stock of K210 went in mid December. Anderton's in the UK, kind of did the opposite.

I bought the BQ500, and have been waiting to see what happens with their stock of K series before making a decision. I've noticed many shops saying 'Order on Pre-order' for one, and 'This item is no longer available' for the other. B&H was the first I saw saying 'This Product has been disconnected'.

If they are running down both their stocks of K and RS, maybe they are consolidating their line. Maybe going Neo. I can't believe they are pulling out of the Cab market as they seem to have released a big range or heads over the past few years.

I'm entertaining a new(er) 2X12 myself. My first bass amp was 50 years ago. I was a Kustom 100 with a 212 CTS cabinet. I loved the sound of that thing and worked it to death for so long! I had friends through the years who had other bass amps but would borrow my Kustom because they likes the sound too. When I need more umph I went to an Acoustic 370/408 which just blew me away (and every Marshall wielding guitar player I met). From then went to Eden WT400/410XLT and haven't looked back.

BUT...I find myself yearning for a 212 again. Something to maybe go with the 410 or an Eden 210 I picked up recently. I see a lot of options here but nothing to narrow it down. I guess, for me, it would depend of what deal presents itself to me. You?
