Best Amp for 2 Bergantino AE112

Although I only have one AE112 now, my LMII/2-AE112 rig sounded great. Smooth, warm, punchy, and as much volume as I ever needed. I've heard from some folks say that they preferred the sound of the LMII over the LMIII but I've never compared them side by side.

As far as I know, the LMII and LMIII are absolutely identical in every way except the DI, which is improved on the LMIII by having an easily switchable pre/post EQ switch (versus the internal jumper on the LMII, and a DI level control.

That's what I was led to believe as well. Just reporting what some players locally have mentioned to me. However, my LMII (and AE112) have both served me well for 2 1/2 years now and I have no need to make any changes.

I do enjoy your video demos so keep them coming :)

The LMTube sounds a bit different, even with the preamp in solid state mode. I've played the LMIII, but never did an exact A/B direct comparison, so there might be some subtle changes that I just am not hearing with my indirect comparisons.

+1 LMII still sounds DARN good.

Hi Ken, GK1001RBII X Markbass F500, what can you say about this compare?

Hello. Well, that 1001 has a LOT of wump to it, and that classic aggressive GK type tone. Really nice head. If I was going back to a full size kind of two space rack unit, that would be pretty high on my list. So, kind of a different thing. With a couple of lightweight 112's, the volume wouldn't be that much different, but the 1001 would sound bigger... deeper, more grindy, more sizzly, etc.... less 'neutral' that the F500.

I have the AE112 stack, have used the LMII with it, but far prefer a Thunderfunk 750. But I'm striving for a warm clean tone with a clear fundamental and lots of whump. If going for certain colors, especially to get that burpy bridge-pickup thing, the LMII is pretty cool. Have never had to play loud enough to stress the LMII or the Tfunk, but at low and medium volume, the Tfunk has far more whump, girth and authority. Of course, it also costs way more, but I have a day gig and can do it.

While I found my LMII to significantly outperform the Thunderfunk TF550b I was using prior to getting the LM, I would hope that the very expensive, large, moderately heavy and very high powered TF750a would have noticeably more girth and authority than any 500 watt amp, micro or otherwise! I bet that sounds great!

Yes indeed...I am a lucky guy. However, I get by with one cabinet for most of my gigs, and I'm gonna try out an Audiokinesis Thunderchild...I'm really intrigued by the question of uniform projection throughout a room, as I often play with a lot of acoustic musicians (horns, percussion, acoustic/nylon guitars) and would love to maximize coverage and presence without getting louder, if you know what I mean. And I know Duke knows his stuff, based on dealing with him in the hi-fi world 6-7 years ago.
