Best amp you played through

I love my SWR Workingman's 15 combo with an extension GK Goldline 2x10. Actually my Behringer BXD 3000H sounds pretty darn good through the same GK cab. I'm really happy either way. And for the sake of sharing my Peavey Vypyr VIP 3 sounds great for bass and guitar.

My bass teacher had a Glockenklang Bass Art head with a matching 4x10. However, my second amp ever was an Eden 4x10 with a Navigator through a Stewart solid state. Not too shabby, and a good upgrade from a 30watt fender combo. And then there's my current amp, which I'm quite happy with. Schroeder full stack, 1800watts, QSC amp, and, oddly, no preamp, just a DBX 160a I feed directly off my pedal board (so you could say my preamp is a Sansamp BDDI pedal). Hard to pick just one. They all sound fairly different. The Glockenklang just felt really elite and cool though. Didnt get much time with it though.

This beaten up bad boy. With 2 4x10 EBS cabs. Extremely powerful.

Ps : the previous band's bassist left his tequila shot on top of it. I wouldn't do that.

Best for which setting?
I have played through amps that sound a-may-zing in the bedroom, but would suck for stage. I've played outdoor gigs with backbone amps that sounded like farts but the same amp would be great in a smaller venue.

The best sounding amp for my ears in a music store test setting was either a Trace Elliot V-Type or a Warwick Quadrupplet with a Crest power amp.

A 1969 Ampeg B-15N with the original speaker 15" in its portaflex cab. Still own one. Still play it.

I currently own (and have previously owned) several other really good amps. But that little B-15 still reigns supreme as best sounding bass amp I've ever played through.

Next amp I'll probably consider is its new generation cousin: the PF-50T.

I'm an unapologetic Ampeg fan. For quieter gigs or the studio, there's just no beating a B-15 IMO. For everything else theres the Ampeg SVT or V4-B.

YMMV.
