Best Band Names!

We were called "Your Mother Naked" back in the late eighties, when I was still playing regularly in a band.

It got a laugh--"We're going to see Your Mother Naked--you wanna come?"

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

my brothers friends have a band called "your mom"
"yeah we're going to the Basement to see your mom. it was great!

I just started a band called "25 minutes with the lions" named after a part in the imax movie africa, when they clearly state that lions mate every 25 minutes during mating season. our drummer and i thought its was funny....

I don't remember if I posted it here, but there have been bazillions of bands called free beer. I was in one of them. We thought we had come up with a really cool name until we tried to get a gig and were told no club owner would put free beer on his sign.

I also notice how other names keep coming back over and over again. I have seen WAAAAAAAAAAAY too many bands call themselves 'Emerald City'.

My favorite has still gotta be 'Bongo Sherbert and the Electric Yeti Wobblers'

Hey, I'm just out of control posting today... no sense stopping now... Bands I've been in:

Uncle Virus

One (w/female singer) that changed its name for every gig - a couple I can remember:
Coriolanus and the Asstronauts
Grandpa's Wrinkly Finger

Name proposed just to antagonize the guitar player, but never used: Jack Beebavo and The Winslinpippy Airbiscuit Band

Butthole Surfers used to do that name switch thing, one name they used was: The Inalienable Right to Eat Fred Astaire's *******

Funny, my name-changing band was in early 90's Austin. It was the drummer's idea - he was a mellowed old (if you can call early 30's old) punk/alt veteran who went by the name "Clutch." I'd bet you a dollar that he would have been old buds with the B-Surfers... at the very least he would have been cut from the same cloth as those guys. Heh.

Not to dis on all the above names. Some are cool, but some are ***? Most are stupid! Sure, they're "original" and "catchy" and "unique", but stupid don't equal good. Hard to imagine a band named (randomly chosen) Jalapeno Lodge Pole and the Squaw Pleasers making it.

*rant off*

Then again, my favorite name never used for a band could fall into the above category. How hypocritical!

How's this?

The New Carissas!
