Mooradian bags are very good, but the foam isn’t as dense as it could be and it compresses quite a bit. The Deluxe Mooradian is better but nowhere as good as what Messina uses. The trade off is that Messina bags will almost stand in the corner on their own. A Mooradian is much easier to shove out of the way.

New bag for the Radelet. Definitely will make for safer street crossings.

Hi all - I have a Kay bass that needs a bag. I have another 3/4 Kay in a Cronkhite bag bought directly from him - built in the 2000s after he sold the Reunion Blues name but before the move to Minnesota. I've been very happy with the bag overall.
Does anyone here have one of the recently made Cronkhite bags? I wondered how the quality compares.

Also, I have a bass that has a 3/4 neck but the body is closer to a 7/8. I have a 7/8 Mooradian bag on it that is letting go, and is really too big for the bass. Who makes a "generously sized" 3/4 bass besides Mooradian?

Bobelock and Tuff Bags tend to run large.

I just went ahead and ordered a Glenn Cronkhite bag. They have a 12 week wait, which can be halved with a $100 expedite fee. Finally pulled the trigger and bought the Tuff Bag. So far, it looks like a fine purchase. Fits my 7/8 PERFECTLY. (Was a tad iffy ordering it, because one of the measurements on my bass - I think lower bout - was 1/2" bigger than the bag's. But there was plenty of give in the other dimensions that it fits perfectly.) Definitely roomy on my 3/4. I'm not sure If I'll hang on to my cheaper thinner bag for that bass - as long as the zippers hold out.

As I expected, the Tuff Bag is A LOT heavier and bulkier than my other bag. Wonderful for the nice bass, but the smaller bag might still get use for my cheaper smaller bass, especially in situations (like my regular weekly jam) where space is at a premium.

Every thing about the Tiff Bag impresses me as being of the highest quality. More handles than I could have imagined, plenty of pockets, and VERY robust hardware/zippers. Will post back in a few years to tell you how it holds up!

And - as always - Steve at String Emporium is a pleasure to do business with.

What type of case will be good for orchestra students to use? They travel to concerts and performances and need a safer method to transport their upright basses. For school use.
