Very true. I thought about saying that. If you go to Warmoth's site you can build your bass to your specs and it will be under $1000.
I can build my dream bass for $853.

Carvin is much more expensive than building one from Warmoth and you can do just about anything. I find Carvin very limited in their pick up selection. It also seems that everyone who buys a Carvin soon sells them. Why I don't know, but the classifieds here always seem to have a few.
I think Carvin's are great basses and I can't wait to own one again. Pickup selection is great by mr and they aren't way over Warmoth especially when you start adding up hardware, finishing, etc. That would be my first choice. I did like my buddy's Geddy Lee bass. Low action!!! Of course first thing might be find one that plays great, then upgrade electronics. That's what I'm doing since I can't afford the Carvin I want right now.
"Own one again." That's my point. People don't seem to hold on to them? I don't know why? I think they look great, they sound and play really well (at least the old ones I have played) their made in the USA, I'm just at a loss why people seem to dump them. Carvin doesn't offer P pick ups, they should.

"Own one again" because I went on the road playing lead with a band, and needed some money so I sold it. Not because I didn't like it. I loved that bass, so no need to read anything into that.
Cheapest Carvin Bas starts at $729. You can have a very nice built LB70 for $1000. If you like 5 strings, you can still get one for close to $1000. That includes the case.
